I like New Delhi,Bangalore,Kolkata ,Gurgaon and Goa with Maldives and Thimpu!
I have never really been to Pakistan or Sri Lanka though.

Sinci this tread asks for 'my' best places in south asia , my best place is my village 20 km outside of Gujrat city and nearlly the same distance from Azad Kashmir border . From our Dera (farmhouse) for as long as u can see wheat fields stretch for miles with trees often providing occasional change of view . On a clear sunny day mountains of Kashmir can be clearly seen along the horizon . Fresh air and no noise . Fresh food and simple , honest people .... wow

*My home state kerala...truly gods own country on non hartal days.
*Lakashadweep islands-especially the uninhabited bangaram and suheli islands.
*srilanka...nice country with very nice people(from a brief stay,i realised tamils and sinhalese are my own blood...never felt i was in a foreign country)

Exactly my thoughts !

My farm, my roots where generations have lived & grown. One gets a strange sense of belonging even as you approach the place. The sights,smells , language, dress, food and sheer sense of contentment ..all add up to finding it to be the best place . Memories are attached to the smallest things - a cleft on the branch where the swing once was tied and I swung & fell as a child. The well I was forbidden to go near to and thrashed for disobeying. The old '53 Hillman Minx standing on stones with those who drove them long gone...oh the list is endless.
