Young Chinese village school teacher jumps around with joy after receiving government pay raise
Young Chinese village school teacher jumps around with joy after receiving government pay raise. China greatly improved rural school teachers' pay and benefits to enhance rural education. This young rural school teacher jumped around with joy after receiving over 10,000¥ ($1,574)monthly salary via her cellphone.

Is the iron rice bowl concept still there - where govt employees enjoy assured job security and life long benefits.

Iron rice bowl means that you won't be fired? Or social insurance and medical insurance?

That's the best thing the government could do. Happy teacher, happy students, good learning.

that entirely depends on the school. some elites schools pay a truck load. that said, i think 10k yuan is pretty good for a village school. beijing middle/high school of average level is probably like 30k yuan , but then the cost of living is also way higher.

The competition for teaching jobs are very fierce in Beijing, salary may vary from school to school but one thing is sure, they pay a lot and numerous bonuses and benefits, the best thing for the jobs is you also get long summer and winter vacations every year.
For rural school rural village 10k yuan is pretty good, the living cost is very low, so is the housing price. in the comment section of this video in Chinese social media, a lot of messages thanking these rural village teachers for teaching our children in the rural regions.

According to Chinese law, all employees and workers in China must sign contracts and buy social insurance and medical insurance. In other words, all employees and workers have complete job security, medical insurance and lifelong pension.

Salaries vary greatly from school to school. The professional grade of teachers is also very important, the income of special grade teachers and third grade teachers varies greatly. Generally speaking, the monthly income of senior teachers and first-class teachers in ordinary junior middle schools (excluding elite schools and key schools) in first tier cities (such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Suzhou, etc.) should be about 30000 CNY.
The teacher in this video is the lowest paid rural teacher. Hubei Shien is only a fourth tier small city. And she was paid for the first time, so she is a new teacher. 10000CNY is already very good for her.

30k CNY is pretty good - thats more than $4500 USD or more than 50k salary per year. in US teachers can in good suburbs can expect anywhere from 60k to 80k. It looks relatively teachers are well paid in China.

But why are they elite schools in communist country? here in usa there are no such elite schools. Every school admits whoever lives in the neighbourhood.

Chinese students will have a collective examination when they enter the first grade of junior middle school from primary school (Grade 6) and when they enter the first grade of senior high school from the third grade of junior middle school. The results of these two examinations will affect the schools they can choose. For example, in Hunan Province, several middle schools such as the high school attached to Hunan Normal University (Mao Zedong's alma mater) are provincial key middle schools. They have the priority to recruit excellent students in the province. Usually the best students are recruited by them (some students refuse them because they are too far away from home), and they also have the best teachers. Then there are key middle schools in various cities, such as Zhuzhou No. 2 middle school (my alma mater). They have the priority to recruit excellent students in the city. Then there are elite schools such as Zhuzhou No. 4 middle school and Zhuzhou No. 8 middle school. They have the priority to recruit excellent students in each district. Finally, ordinary middle schools recruit students according to their respective regions.

The income of teachers in China is high, but the income of lawyers in China is very ordinary. This is probably the opposite of the situation in the USA.

This is why China is massively reforming her education sector now, In China every school has to admit whoever lives in the neighbourhood too, but families living in the neighobrhoods having no good schools try pulling out all stops to send their children to good schools out of their neighborhoods, this is where a lot of unfair competition kicks in, this is also one of the major issues that the government's education reform targets.

There are public schools and private (elite) schools in the US - private schools will not admit everyone by far. There are 34,576 private schools in the United States, serving 5.7 million PK-12 students. Private schools account for 25 percent of the nation's schools and enroll 10 percent of all PK-12 students. Most private school students (78 percent) attend religiously-affiliated schools.

I know friends whose toddler kids go to private schools, he pays around $3000 a month tuition for each. Yes it is expensive.

China is not really in my opinion a pure communist society anymore. Elites can and do have their schools.

This is why China is rising and US is in decline. Plain and simple.

I think it's a right move by the government to raise the pay scale for the teachers in rural underdeveloped regions, the teachers in big cities are way overpaid and rural village teachers are way underpaid, the gap should be narrowed at least.
