Thursday, May 22, 2014 - Islamabad—The PML-N government has decided to celebrate Youm-e-Takbir in a grand way on May 28 to commemorate detonation of six nuclear devices in response to five of India on May 28, 1998.
This time, it was a pleasant co-incidence as sixteen years back on the same day, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif was Prime Minister of Pakistan who made Pakistan a nuclear capable country.
Nawaz Sharif will address the nation on the occasion. A grand function is expected to be held at Convention Centre, Islamabad to be addressed by him. He will speak on his nuclear vision.
During the last stint of Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan test-fired its first ballistic missile ‘Ghauri’ on April 6, 1998 and during this tenure, a highly sophisticated nuclear capable, multi- tube tactical short-range ballistic missile ‘Nasr’ was test-fired giving an edge over adversaries.
Another function to celebrate the day will be held at Aiwan-e-Quaid here under the auspices of Nazriya Pakistan Council (Trust). Dr. Abdul Qadeer, Father of Pakistan’s nuclear programme will be chief guest.
