(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The Yemeni defense ministry unveiled a new missile named 'Asif 1' that it said would be used in the war against Saudi Arabia.

Al-Masirah news website reported that the missile was test-fired in action after it hit a military base in Saudi Arabia's Najran province.

"The missile units of the army targeted Rajla military base in Saudi Arabia’s Southwestern border region of Najran with three Asif 1 missiles and the missiles precisely hit the target," a Yemeni military source said.

In relevant remarks on Monday, the official spokesman of the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Sharq Luqman, underlined that the country is in possession of advanced missiles which can hit the Saudi capital.

"We have been able to develop our weapons and make progress so that they can hit the Saudi capital," Luqman told al-Mayadeen news channel.

Noting that Borkan-2 missile was the first missile which could target King Salman airbase, he said that new missiles are underway.

Luqman said that after hitting Riyadh, the war in Yemen will enter a new stage and all equations will change.

Reports said earlier this month that Yemen's popular forces and their allies in the country's army fired a long-range ballistic missile at an airbase in the Saudi capital Riyadh, marking the second such attack on the city.

The Borkan-2 missile accurately struck King Salman Air Base.

In a statement carried by Yemen's official Saba news agency, a Yemeni military official close to the Ansarullah group said the missile attack came in retaliation for the criminal Saudi war on Yemen.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni army pledged that missiles would target the Saudi territory until the regime’s bombing campaign stops.

It further announced that 108 ballistic missiles have been fired at positions held by Saudi invaders inside and outside Yemen so far.

Separately, Yemeni popular fighters targeted with a Zelzal-1 missile a gathering place of Saudi mercenaries in the al-Ramzah district in the kingdom’s Southwestern Jizan region.

They also launched a missile attack against positions held by the mercenaries in al-Maton district of Yemen’s Northern Jawf province.

pfffff. Copying others technology and taking credit. I don't think even Yemen can do that. Must be done by someone close to Russia.

That missile launched in the video was not a Scud or any of it's variants. It was a jet engine powered missile. Now that is strange how the hell Yemen has that technology? That is something in which Iran also lacks. so if the missile used a jet in the first stage and there must be a mid way second stage solid fuel motor and that is what has extended the range.

Yemen has been under siege for the past two years and I don't think its possible to smuggle this big missiles (which weights 1000 of kilo and needs crane to be lifted) into the country. Also recently they have unveiled new drones and missiles which clearly shows they have started manufacturing them in their territory.

Absolutely correct!

No jet engines, these are solid rocket fuel motors. It appears a variant of the older Zelzal series, but different launcher. Or simply some older IRGC artillery rockets with inertial guidance of the early series.

Hezb and Iraqi Shia militias also use these, fairly simple, but effective guided rockets. If fired in salvos, they get thru the useless Al-batriot as evidenced by recent Houthi missile successes.

I agree with you on the issue of siege, but I can understand a solid fuel missile Yemen can easily improve the scud on range and guidance but initial stage on jet engine and later stage on solid fuel is a bit complex thing so there are no missiles being delivered but there are instructors and scientists that can be delivered to the region but Irani they have missiles but they are mostly solid fuel and Yemen developing a 2 staged ballistic missile it not Iran it is definitely Russians and Russia is helping an old ally no doubt in that the missile fired in the video that exhaust is of a Jet engine with out the smoke stream that is why ABM is not being able to intercept the missile because the initial detection stage takes it as a fighter jet due to exhaust temperature and neglects the launch and that info can only be available to the Russians. I must say it was a smart way to fool the ABM. Wow impressed.

That can be the true, in fact Russians are present in Yemen right now for humanitarian purposes but they can also assist huthis with the missile technology. This will help Russians to evaluate American made anti missile systems which are used by Saudis. check this news which shows Russians were present in the Huthis controlled areas a week ago.

A Russian NGO has delivered lifesaving aid to the desperate population of war-torn Yemen, where over 18 million people now urgently require some form of humanitarian assistance.

The first delivery of humanitarian aid from the Russian Humanitarian Mission, which cares for the needy in conflict zones, began arriving at the Darawan refugee camp, in the western Yemeni province of Amran on Thursday.

That is humanitarian aid but those along the aid are scientists lol this really make the situation of Yemen more complex as Houthis a Guerilla force and now with technological advantage. You know the missile in the video had the same foot print of Russian Iskander missile only the shape and size were different.

Yemen is the best place for Russians to evaluate American made anti missile systems.
