Xolo may have just revealed details about its first Windows Phone 8.1-based smartphone, but a new report claims that the company is also working on a brand new Android smartphone user-interface (UI) called Hive.
GSMArena claims to have obtained screenshot from a Xolo insider, and is also claiming that the Xolo Hive UI will debut on a flagship smartphone that is expected to be unveiled in the second week of July.

The site has also listed some of the specifications of the unnamed Xolo flagship smartphone, such as a 5-inch HD display; Gorilla Glass 3 protection; octa-core processor, and 2GB of RAM.

About the new Xolo UI, the site claims that the ROM will offer new set of features and enhancements over the stock Android experience. The site claims that the Hive UI is based on Android KitKat.

The leaked screenshot of the Hive UI shows new fonts, icons, and a design which seems totally reworked compared to the earlier UI of Xolo smartphones.

According to the leaked screenshot, the home screen will come with Xolo Connect, Xolo Edge, Xolo Power, Xolo Secure and Fusion X apps apart from the conventional dialler, contacts, app launcher, messages, and browser.

Xolo, on the other hand has started promoting its unannounced Hive UI with a dedicated page that come with taglines such as "And right now there's something different brewing at Xolo. Stay curious," "Soon you will too. The revolution has begun," and "A revolution is in the works. Stay tuned."

Other quotes from the Hive teaser page, read, "Imagine if you had the power to change your phone the way you want to. Like play dough. The music player is yours. The contact book is yours. The themes are yours. Imagine what it would be like to create things based on your ideas. Wouldn't that be wonderful?... So the next probable question itself is what exactly is Hive? We would say, imagine a forge. You are the knights who would want blades made of Valerian steel. We the forgers make that possible because the steel we create is malleable to your likes and dislikes. Hive is that forge. It's a platform where we follow democracy in creation... The Hive pits the thinkers and the doers together under one huge umbrella so that the result is beneficial for both."

All this seems to indicate a UI that is very customisable, and that partially ties-in with the fact that Xolo is also said to be working with a designer community to create themes for its new UI and might also announce a new store for its smartphone consumers where all the exclusive content will be available for download.

Earlier on Monday, Xolo's first Windows Phone 8.1-based smartphone, the Win Q900s went up for pre-order at Rs. 9,999.

Last week, the company launched a new Android 4.4 KitKat-based smartphone in India, the Q1011 at Rs. 9,999.

Can anyone confirm whether the manufacturing of Xolo is done in India? I highly doubt it and feel that it will be done in Taiwan.

Well see actually what all the Indian Mobile companies and many cos other countries for example: Blu, do is, place orders and provide specs to Original Equipment Manufacturers(OEMs) in China - Who just produce products based on the specs you want.

Shameful that we don't make it on our own.
Mate that's not as easy as it looks. Even for Micromax it took 4-5 yrs to setup just a mobile assembling plant. But don't worry if they keep surging for a decade they may successfully setup their own Manufacturing plants.

Then why do these guys talk about being tekecom power in 10 years of we cannot manufacture our own phones and use our own operating system?

Actually we are but only on the software side, to be on hardware side we'll have to become self sufficient in fulfilling domestic demand of chip by manufacturing chips at home.

of we cannot manufacture our own phones and use our own operating system?
Well DRDO was talking on this, though don't know how much they've progressed on that till now.

Indian OS developed by DRDO likely to be ready in three years - Economic Times

And XOLO also have done some pretty good work here. Just can't wait for HIVE.
