The PK government runs an open skies policy and hence private and other airlines have certain open access and in return this improves service and reduces costs for the traveller. Pak airlines are free to improve service and reduce costs, not doing so will mean a slow but sure death. PIA needs to stop being a political football and become an airline. Needs investment in aircraft, infrastructure and people.

Please share it as much as you can to save the Jobs of Thousands of people.

Today is One of the Black day for aviation industry when we allowed Emirates Airline A380 to operate from Islamabad. It’s a big blow to own aviation industry. In whole of the world countries protect their own interest but it’s only in Pakistan for glamour we destroy our own industries. Emirates wanted to operate A380 from Canada but Canadian Govt refused despite all pressure so much so that UAE govt put restrictions on Canadian passport but Canadian Govt stuck to their stance to save their airlines. India did not allow Emirates to operate A380 to protect their airlines but we have allowed Emirates to operate A380. Every where the routes are given on reciprocal basis but today Emirates has been given seven flights from Karachi only and they have permission to operate from Lahore, Multan and Peshawar along with Air Arabia , Fly Dubai and Etihad. They have been given permission to operate from Quetta, Faisal Abad and Sialkot. As a result Airblue and Shaheen had to shut down their flights from these places because they were offering non realistic prices which our airlines could not compete. Shaheen is in the verge of collapse and new airline which were coming up like Go Green and Sial are in difficulties. It’s time we start thinking for interest of our country not to serve others. #Share #AviationIndustry #Shaheen #Flyagain

From my friends in shaeen airline.. Tayyab, Hassan, Nasir and Mudassar..

Not sad at all. In fact a welcome kick up the backside. If Pakistanis want their airline services to prosper then they need to stop being corrupt and just concentrate on providing world class airline services. Simple as.

South Asian 3rd worlders. Still lost in worlds largest to longest measurement issues.
What use is landing a A380 at Islamabad where the average passenger throughput capacity is incapable of doing more than 100 an hour?
How do you fill a A380 to Islamabad? It isnt Hajj season.. nor are the seats any cheaper for these flights.
Just because you can doesn't mean you need to, but cannot explain that to 3rd worlder desis.

Ladies & Gentlemen - #EK2524 the first ever A380 to land in Pakistan - TOUCHDOWN!

3:18 AM - Jul 8, 2018

It will be a landmark in the aviation history of the Pakistan. The Civil Aviation Authority has granted permission to a Middle Eastern airline, which will fly the giant aircraft, to bring the airplane to Pakistan.

First flight of A380 will arrive with 650 passengers on board from Dubai. It will land in Islamabad at 12:30 am, Private news channel reported.

The double-decker plane stands 80-foot high from the ground and has a speed of 945 kilometers per hour with its four powerful turbo engines. The giant airplane weighs 577 tons, its length is 240 feet and the wing span is 260 feet.

A380 can accommodate up to 868 passengers. It has the capacity to carry 323, 545 litres of fuel, which is equal to 85471 gallons.

Even if they could fill every single flight to the brim it would still be a very infeasible venture to use an A380 on a route as short as DBX-ISB. It makes no economic sense for any airline to do this and I doubt Emirates will have a regular A380 flight to Pakistan. This is probably just a gimmicky one time thing.

Absence of boarding bridges that can handle A380, the runway is fine.

The boarding bridges have been there at these airports since I was little, apparently not of the right size according to some posters here.

No facilities for A380 at Lahore. reinforced concrete needs to be put in place, a tug strong enough to push the A380 back and double arm boarding gates are needed.

Doubt we need reinforced concrete and stronger tugs since the An-225 (heavier and larger than the A380. In fact the largest in the world) was handled fine at the airport.

To be fair, its Emirates who would have to fill these aircraft, if they do decide to actually fly an A380 on this route.

well i have question if AN-225 mriya can land in karachi and lahore why can't A-380 ?

Pretty sure it's not about the infrastructure of the airport. large aircraft require high volume long range routes for them to make economical sense. Pakistan just doesn't have any such routes. Airlines use their long range airliners on short routes only when a smaller option is not available, the way PIA had its B-777s running from Lahore to Karachi until they received the A-320s.

The cargo terminal is where the old Lahore airport building used to be, I think that part was resurfaced with reinforced concrete (not completely sure though). You’re probably right about the tug. Another thing to consider is if the taxi ways are wide enough.

Not ideal for Pakistan's short routes , after elections all none Pakistani Carriers will be given or should be given notice to limit their flight to serve smaller cities in Pakistan

No clue.

You’re probably right about the tug. Another thing to consider is if the taxi ways are wide enough.

The taxi ways on the passenger terminal side seem of the same width, if not wider, as on the cargo terminal side.
