... the Chinese platform Lingshui 17-2 isn‘t exclusively made in China as OP claims.Non Chinese firms such as Keppel FloaTEC a US based company designed the platform, Anker provided the subsea production system…MacGregor riser pull in system..Kongsberg ..flow assurance…the list is long…I‘d agree with the claim “assembled in China” but it’s not made in China.

there is a difference between outsourcing to reduce cost vs outsourcing because you lack the know how. China does not contract western firms to reduce cost.
