The World Bank has agreed to provide Bangladesh with $202 million to help the country improve its food storage facilities.

The global lender will finance the project to help Bangladesh ensure cereal availability and improve storage management so that residents of disaster-prone areas have an easy access to food grains during and after disasters, said a press release.

The government and the World Bank signed an agreement on Monday in this regard.

Fatima Yasmin, secretary of the Economic Relations Division (ERD), and Mercy Miyang Tembon, World Bank's country director, signed the deal on behalf of their respective parties.

The money will be utilised in Bangladesh's "Food Storage Facilities" project, said the release.

Under the project, 8 silos – 6 for rice and 2 for wheat – with a capacity of over 5.35 lakh tonnes will be built in order to increase food storage at the government level.

Moreover, 5 lakh household silos will be constructed to store food grains and domestic animals.

The completion of the project will increase scope for emergency relief availability after floods and cyclones by ensuring storage of safe food.

The food directorate project, which began in January 2014, was scheduled to be completed by June 2022. But the tenure was extended to October 2023 as the project required an additional fund.

Initially, the total project cost was set at Tk1,920 crore, with the World Bank providing Tk1,917 crore. After the Monday's deal signing, Tk1,712 crore more from the global lender has been added to the fund.

The fresh loan will have to be repaid in 30 years, with a 5-year grace period. Bangladesh will have to pay the interest at an annual rate of 1.25% and service charge at 0.75%.

Awami league regime and its cheerleaders (including OP) claim Bangladesh developed to middle income country, per capital GDP this and that. WHY with begging bowl to world bank for very basic need of food?

It will be a worthwhile question for PDF admins to decide, if they will continue allow "Bangladeshi" regime propaganda tools to operate in this forum with regime propaganda and lies.

Begging is what BNP and Jamati dogs do, when they ask for 'pran bhikka' from president before their execution.

Shame on them for begging for their lives from the very people they say they hate.

No integrity, they act all mullah type but basic concept of Islam is beyond them.

Your fate is decided by God, asking president for forgiveness won't save you, you life ending is not his decision to make.

But these are fake mullahs, you don't have to be religious to know more than these nutjobs.

Nutjobs who read Qur'an in Urdu instead of Arabic, I mean cmon... They're pathetic and their followers are worse.

If anything these scum should be executed for misusing the word of God and inciting violence through waz and mahfils.

Bit extreme dude. Those were political murders. Extremely shameful episode for the nation.

These will come back to haunt BAL leadership, they wont be in power forever.

You like it or not ,politics is the part and parcel of our life but we love to refuse the truth , because most of middle class people abhor politics because of its current nature .

Jamatis should have remained in mosque and madrasas inteasd or creating violence during our freedom fight and later in 2001 - 2006 as a part of govt ( I would say major part ) and in 2001 - 2015 as opposition.

Deobandis are huge majority but have you ever seen they are creating violence like Jamat ?

Deobandis are limited to their madrasa but come to street when they needed to counter anti Islamic propaganda .

So it's clear that you do protest without using Islam as political tool against your own country.

It's a matter of debate whether deobandis are good or bad , but at least they are not hypocrite like jamatis who gave fatwa that female leadership is haram and after few months they sit on a female's lap to be part of govt .

Islam does have political elements in broader area as in order to run a nation you must have politics , but it's actually totally opposite than jamatis taught us.

They are the frontliners who misused Islam using common folk's sentiment.

This act is enough for their capital punishment, if not by the hand of BAL then by the hand of a pure Muslim authority.

Wahabis got the same treatment by the ottomans when they ( Wahabis ) demolished the Rawdah Mubaraks of sahabas and mazars of awlyahs by declaring them as pagan sign ( by considering themselves as only true sector of Islam ) . Same violence jamatis did several times before and after independence.

Remember Maududi was ordered to hang by Pakistan govt ?

Although Maududi wasn't as disturbing as later days jamatis , because at least Maududi was honest and always hold his position of "democracy is haram" for his entire life !

BAL also had Jamaat as allies.

I think one should be free to like jamat, bal or BNP or not. But no one should try to monopolise politics.

I am cool about religion in politics, personally do not want it but if people feel it defines their politics so be it.

BD will not progress unless there is accomodation for all political position. Everything should not harp back to 1971. Jamat might have been against the creation of BD but they were also against the creation of pakistan. They are professional contrarians but they have as right as any to publicise their position.... if people vote for them then so be it.

BAL
also had Jamaat as allies

When ? Now don't say that it was in 1996 , because it was not alliance. It was simply a movement when Jamat had the same goal to restore democracy . It was actually their plan of legalization of democracy the haram thing. Their were no alliance that time , no seat was shared with them . AL had candidates in all 300 constituencies.

I think one should be free to like jamat, bal or BNP or not. But no one should try to monopolise politics.
Indeed. But although I didn't see their violence in out freedom war so I won't redirect the discussion to it ,but I saw jamati massacre during their govt and specially when they were in opposition after 2008 election, specially in 2013 they totally declared war against state not only against govt.

That continued till 2015 as a part of restoration of democracy !

I must remind you that you can't restore democracy by killing people and destroying people's property.

So those violence was just for their power and the power hunger was so naked that they started arson terrorism .

If BAL monopolied politics then it's only because BNP jamatis gave them the opportunity by their terrorism.

Now still BAL is playing the same cards that was given to them by the violence if Jamat shibir.

I am cool about religion in politics, personally do not want it but if people feel it defines their politics so be it.
I have no disagreement here too . But it should be politics ,not any anti state act.

Make a political party like AKP and make leaders like Erdogan , I will be the first one who will be voting them .

But if you spread violence through the politics specially using religious sentiment ,I will be the first one who will finish you if I have this power.

Religion is to elevate human life ,not to suppress it only to fill you bank account. It's actually called lamb coater beast ,not the true religion that is meant to elevate mankind.

BD will not progress unless there is accomodation for all political position. Everything should not harp back to 1971.
Do you think that I am against it ?
No I am not . And the process has been started . Just wait for another public usurp in future , because of trouble maker BCL and grassroot BAL with some criminal leaders.
Jamat might have been against the creation of BD but they were also against the creation of pakistan. They are professional contrarians but they have as right as any to publicise their position.... if people vote for them then so be it.
No people shouldn't be given the right to vote criminals or killers . Not at all . People who will choose killers ,they aren't worthy of choosing rulers .

Because 30% can elect a criminal community by fptp in parliamentary system ,you can't overlook the remaining 70% who are majority.

Even if 90% vote for killers then for the sake of humanity we must think of the 10 % who will be under threat if a group come to power.

If your freedom of speech and voting cause disaster to other , I am against this system .
