Do you trust the reporting system? I don't... Maybe reports are considered on the basis of who has reported (and against whom) instead of what is being reported

Well, there is no doubt that Austerlitz was baited.

What is surprising is that he was not banned in the original instance but a Pakistani was.

Especially since I have been consistently banned for way lot less.

So I think there is more to this than just Indian and Pakistani, Hindu and Muslim, Hinduism and Islam here.

Back in the day when I cared (and even funded), I tried my level best to stop that split. I failed. The realization that is the designed intent of the forum to work in this manner in order to serve what its zealobots perceive as their goals led me to accept it the way its management want it to be. After all, it is their right.

What you or I think is irrelevant. The management will exercise its right to run their forum as they see fit. They have lost their voice on Twitter, and participation here is going down pretty steadily. It is their choice. We must respect that at all times.

Wouldnt it be better to re-recalibrate and get some words in with those you choose to, even if there are periods of forced absence interspersed along the way?

That's a tragedy then; but he was still wrong, not to react himself, but to react in the form that he did. I know that this amounts to Monday morning quarter-backing, being wise after the event, but not attacking religion should be a fundamental tenet.

As for reporting, yes, I have had very mixed results; sometimes, swift, effective action, sometimes a complete silence. Maybe you are right. Perhaps a system of acknowledgement of reports and confirmation of disposal, or of action on those reports, might bring a convergence of perception by members and action (positive or negative) by moderators.

This is what Indian posters are subjected to, on a daily, relentless basis, in nearly every thread and condoned, if not outright encouraged by a substantial section of the upper echelons here. This was the case even before the massive influx of Indian trolls from around 2014-15.

For a long time, Indians were simply prone to tolerating and ignoring such posts. If they couldn't, theyd pack up and leave. That behavior of tolerance has changed.

To the members who abuse others faiths, im not particularly religious, but if the members of any faith, whichever faith it might be, believe that they have the divine right to insult other's Faiths but the members of those faiths must have some special reverence for their Gods, Sorry it's not going to happen. Can't happen.

This isn’t about the religious flamebait which is an agreed upon issue that is not to be tolerated(and isn’t) against any religion.. that has to do with an overwhelming increase in such attacks due to the same incoming from the Internet bhakt brigade.
As mentioned before, there is a tit for tat response to hatred.

Really, radicals elected in india transformed a normal poster like Austerlitz into posting what he did and those radicals caused the other members in the altercation into trolls who erstwhile were quality posters. Look at the quality of the posts of the Pakistani members who baited Austerlitz, did they transform into trolls because of Modi now?

Again, I am pointing out moderation standards have gone down the drain, if you intentionally choose not to see it, then my vote for this thread would be to reinforce what seems like your predisposition is; to ban all Indian members.

You see Austerlitz as the cause, I see the influx of Indian radicals in the forum as the cause for the angst Austerlitz faced.

You can complain on the “moderation standards” which I see as a lack of 24/7 personell..
