In an incredible upset, China's Hou Yifan defeated World #2 Fabiano Caruana in a standard match yesterday at the Grenke Classic tournament.

Women's World Champion Hou Yifan has a chess Elo rating of 2651. In comparison, World #2 Fabiano Caruana has a stratospheric Elo rating of 2827.

When the difference is 100 Elo rating points, the probability of the lower-ranked player winning is extremely low. However, despite a difference of 176 Elo points, Hou Yifan easily won her match against Fabiano Caruana.

In conclusion, Hou Yifan's Elo rating should rise significantly after the Grenke Tournament.

His live rating is not 2827,rather something around 2806 when Yifan defeated Caruana.I think his present rating is 2817(which is not live one).Caruana is not in a great form recently as he got beaten by sub 2650s in 3 instances in last 10 days.
