Woman Raped on Train in Philadelphia

Not in the inner city. Philly is deep blue. The Democrats are incompetent, they are very corrupt, weak on crime and weak on law and order. Those are just facts.

Btw I’ve lived in all kinds of environments, from inner cities to rural areas. Rural white people can be suspicious and racist but to be honest when they like you, they are more genuine in their friendship than big city white liberals from my experience.

White liberals are the most hypocritical. Racism and xenophobia are human nature. Of course, extremism is another matter.

USA gets to decide how and where to spend its money, not anyone else. :D

Then American governments don't have the right to dictate how other countries should be run, especially countries governed by leftist movements.

(Hint: USA spends more on social programs than defense.)

I would like the five-yearly-changing American governments to spend on preventing these tragedies :

From this article :
A New Jersey woman who worked four jobs, who sometimes “wouldn’t sleep for five days,” according to a co-worker, died Monday while napping between shifts in her car on the side of the road.

Maria Fernandes died in her 2001 Kia Sportage after inhaling carbon monoxide and fumes from an overturned gas container she kept in the car, according to the New York Daily News.

The 32-year-old Newark woman pulled into a WAWA convenience store lot in Elizabeth, New Jersey for a nap early Monday. She left the car running. The carbon monoxide and gasoline fumes were the likely cause of death, authorities said.
Fernandes was found dead in the car around eight hours later when EMTs responded to a 911 call of a woman found in a vehicle with closed windows and doors. Emergency workers sensed a strong chemical odor upon entering the vehicle, authorities said.

"This sounds like someone who tried desperately to work and make ends meet, and met with a tragic accident," Elizabeth police Lt. Daniel Saulnier said, according to NJ.com.

An autopsy this week failed to determine the exact cause of death. Police are awaiting results of toxicology tests, Saulnier said, adding that no foul play is suspected.

Fernandes emigrated to the United States from Portugal. She was beloved by co-workers at the Penn Station Dunkin’ Donuts in Manhattan, who called her a model employee.

“She used to work like three shifts every day,” Parth Patel told NJ.com. “Sometimes she wouldn’t sleep for five days.”

Fernandes also logged shifts at the chain store’s Linden and Harrison, New Jersey locations, co-workers said.

“She was a very sweet person. A hardworking person,” said Ravina Ramjit. “She was always joking around with everybody.”

Co-workers said Fernandes often sang Michael Jackson songs at work, mimicking his dance moves on the job. She had planned to take a break from her jobs this Friday to celebrate Jackson’s birthday at a Central Park memorial, according to NJ.com.
Police have attempted to contact Fernandes's sister in Portugal, Saulnier said. Police are also seeking a brother who works as a trucker out-of-state, he said.

About 7.5 million Americans are working more than one job, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Those jobs often leave people short on income compared to full-time work, said Carl Van Horn, director of the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University.

"These are folks who would like to work full-time but they can't find the jobs," Van Horn said. "They wind up in these circumstances in which they are exhausted. More commonly it creates just an enormous amount of stress.”

Following the recession that began in 2008, many Americans were shuffled into part-time employment, working two or three such jobs to make ends meet.
"The average person who lost their job took a 10 percent pay cut (after returning to the workforce)," Van Horn said.

Workers in the United States are earning an average of 23 percent less than earnings from jobs that were lost during the economic recession that began in 2008, according to a recent report, as wealth inequality in the US has shot to record highs, according to variousindicators. Many long-term unemployed are considering abandoning their job search following years of stagnant economic growth.
Not quite the American dream. :)

Better a corporation masquerading as a country than a communist party masquerading as one, right? :D

The Communist Party of China is not a true Communist movement. I am sorry the China-origin members posting on this thread but that is the truth.

What is the real communist movement?

In fact, most people in China now don’t care if it’s true communism.

Frankly speaking, China is neither traditional socialism nor traditional capitalism. We do not need to pursue ideological purity.

You were the one who brought in Malala.
Brought in to emphasize the hypocrisy of the west. As a pakistani i am in a much better position to understand all that western drama on Malala and the nefarious agenda behind that or how much she really deserve an attention.

It isn't. It is more of a pragmatic party than anything else. You can't become the world's largest trading nation with the world's largest consumers of things like cars, movies and luxury handbags by being communist.

Very true. However, there is no way to prevent some strong man from trying to pursue ideological purity. Therefore, it doesn't really matter what most people in China care.

Mr. Secular Nationalist, would you like to be shot by the Taliban like Malala was ? Or do you also think like some unthinking, false conspiracy theorists that that incident was drama ?

It isn't. It is more of a pragmatic party than anything else.

What does "Pragmatic" mean ? The CCP maintains as much a Capitalist society as the American Establishment or the Indian Establishment or similar societies.

You can't become the world's largest trading nation with the world's largest consumers of things like cars, movies and luxury handbags by being communist.

Cars : Privately-owned personal transport vehicles ( cars and two-wheelers ) must be banned the world over and be replaced with buses and taxis which have been made more in number and frequency. There will be a massive reduction in accidents, pollution, crime and general chaos. Transport I think is the biggest contributor to climate change and removing the obsolete idea of personal transport vehicles will lead to a cleaner world. Think of how during the lockdowns last year in many parts of the world the skies became clearer and the good animals ( leopards, deer etc ) made themselves visible near roads.

Luxury handbags : Unless a bag is reliable, use worthy and looks good there is no point in salivating after some perceived "luxury" handbag from France etc. Doing so would be obscene and in imitation of societies where people are homeless but someone with more money spends money on a single "luxury" bag that the homeless person could spend on food for ten years. Ridiculous !

.
In Texas stealing anything below $100 is non arrest ticket. Local kaly in the hood used this loophole to shoplift from Desi marts. They casually walk in, pick stuff and walk out. Police don’t even do report cuz it less the $100. Do this every day, that’s theft of $3000 per person per month. But no arrest.

People stealing from stores is one of the reasons why people like us have to pay more for stuff. They eat the food in Walmart and leave the packaging in the store. Do they really think that stores like Walmart would shoulder that expense? Wrong.

.
And US governments do not do that. USA pursues its national interests, just as all other countries do for themselves, that is all.

1. What does "national interests" mean ?

2. What national interest was served by USA / NATO plus stooges invading Libya, especially when the Libya had free housing while in USA the government allows homelessness ? Other such things.

And I like free peaches.

So help create a system that gives you free peaches. What's the problem ?

The solution is to vote in elections and determine the candidates and the policies by due process.

America's five-yearly election system, the two-party dictatorship and a complicated political structure has existed for a few hundred years yet America has many problems.

It is, despite people pretending otherwise.

If China was an actual Communist society it would have an evolved socio-economic system if not entirely abolished the money system like Communism desires as one of the goals, China would also have established a people's governance instead of the one-party dictatorship.

Instead the CCP maintains Capitalist elements like stock markets where the Chinese can gamble, lose money and commit suicide by jumping into steel furnaces and off buildings. The CCP also allows an oppressive environment for workers and obscene consumerism and maintains economic classes ( billionaires, middle class, poor ).

A truly Communist political arrangement would have been like in the Libyan Jamahiriya which had direct democracy - the people ruling themselves - basically the "Withering away of the State" that Communism desires but the Libyan leaders not calling their country as Communist. I quote from the OP of this thread from 2015 :
Under Gaddafi’s unique system of direct democracy, traditional institutions of government were disbanded and abolished, and power belonged to the people directly through various committees and congresses.

Far from control being in the hands of one man, Libya was highly decentralized and divided into several small communities that were essentially “mini-autonomous States” within a State. These autonomous States had control over their districts and could make a range of decisions including how to allocate oil revenue and budgetary funds. Within these mini autonomous States, the three main bodies of Libya’s democracy were Local Committees, Basic People’s Congresses and Executive Revolutionary Councils.

The Basic People’s Congress (BPC), or Mu’tamar shaʿbi asāsi was essentially Libya’s functional equivalent of the House of Commons in the United Kingdom or the House of Representatives in the United States. However, Libya’s People’s Congress was not comprised merely of elected representatives who discussed and proposed legislation on behalf of the people; rather, the Congress allowed all Libyans to directly participate in this process. Eight hundred People’s Congresses were set up across the country and all Libyans were free to attend and shape national policy and make decisions over all major issues including budgets, education, industry, and the economy.

In 2009, Gaddafi invited the New York Times to Libya to spend two weeks observing the nation’s direct democracy. The New York Times, that has traditionally been highly critical of Colonel Gaddafi’s democratic experiment, conceded that in Libya, the intention was that

“everyone is involved in every decision…Tens of thousands of people take part in local committee meetings to discuss issues and vote on everything from foreign treaties to building schools.”

The fundamental difference between western democratic systems and the Libyan Jamahiriya’s direct democracy is that in Libya all citizens were allowed to voice their views directly – not in one parliament of only a few hundred wealthy politicians – but in hundreds of committees attended by tens of thousands of ordinary citizens. Far from being a military dictatorship, Libya under Mr. Gaddafi was Africa’s most prosperous democracy.

On numerous occasions Mr. Gaddafi’s proposals were rejected by popular vote during Congresses and the opposite was approved and enacted as legislation.

For instance, on many occasions Mr. Gaddafi proposed the abolition of capital punishment and he pushed for home schooling over traditional schools. However, the People’s Congresses wanted to maintain the death penalty and classic schools, and the will of the People’s Congresses prevailed. Similarly, in 2009, Colonel Gaddafi put forward a proposal to essentially abolish the central government altogether and give all the oil proceeds directly to each family. The People’s Congresses rejected this idea too.

For over four decades, Gaddafi promoted economic democracy and used the nationalized oil wealth to sustain progressive social welfare programs for all Libyans. Under Gaddafi’s rule, Libyans enjoyed not only free health-care and free education, but also free electricity and interest-free loans. Now thanks to NATO’s intervention the health-care sector is on the verge of collapse as thousands of Filipino health workers flee the country, institutions of higher education across the East of the country are shut down, and black outs are a common occurrence in once thriving Tripoli.

Unlike in the West, Libyans did not vote once every four years for a President and an invariably wealthy local parliamentarian who would then make all decisions for them. Ordinary Libyans made decisions regarding foreign, domestic and economic policy themselves.
Clearly, Gaddafi’s system of economic and direct democracy was one of the 21st century’s most profound democratic experiments and NATO’s bombardment of Libya may indeed go down in history as one of the greatest military failures of the 21st century.

BTW even Elon Musk desires direct democracy for the near-future Mars settlements.

What is the real communist movement?

1. Please see just above about Libya.

2. Read this proposal thread of mine about a new socio-economic system which has a money system but manages to abolish economic classes ( rich, middle, poor ) and allows just and equal access to resources to everyone. Read the consequent discussion there and you can leave there any points or questions you have.

In fact, most people in China now don’t care if it’s true communism.

Unfortunate, especially if there are things like the middle class having to go to India to avail of medical services because they can't afford them in China or can't trust the treatment there.

Frankly speaking, China is neither traditional socialism nor traditional capitalism. We do not need to pursue ideological purity.

It is Capitalist.

. . .
50% of buisnesses are owned by the chinease government. So it would be inccorrect to say that it is capitalist.
Government can be the biggest capitalist. It all depends on those 50% of businesses are run as commercial, for-profit businesses or charities or government bureaucracies. Take your pick.
