Woman burnt alive for dowry in U.P

A woman was allegedly burnt alive by her husband and in—laws over dowry at Janipur village here in the district, police said on Friday.

Shushma, who was married a year back, was burnt by her husband Pankaj and her in—laws on Thursday. She was later rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead.

A complaint was filed on Thursday by the victim’s mother Ram Dayee alleging that her son—in—law Pankaj and his family members had been demanding dowry.

The body of the victim has been sent for post-mortem, police said.
