Will US allow Chinese investigators to inspect bio-weapons lab in Maryland?

President Donald Trump has no right to make spurious coronavirus accusations against China since the United States is unlikely to allow Chinese investigators to inspect the US bio-weapons lab at Fort Detrick in Maryland, according to American political analyst Dennis Etler.
Trump on Thursday contradicted a statement from his own intelligence agencies by claiming that he has seen evidence that gives him a "high degree of confidence" the coronavirus originated in a laboratory in Wuhan, China.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence said on Thursday that the US intelligence community has concluded that the novel coronavirus originated in China but was not man-made or engineered.
"The entire Intelligence Community has been consistently providing critical support to US policymakers and those responding to the COVID-19 virus, which originated in China," said the statement.
"The intelligence community also concurs with the wide scientific consensus that the COVID-19 virus was not man-made or genetically modified."
The statement came after Trump suggested on Monday that he might seek damages from China over the COVID-19 virus outbreak.
Hours after Trump contradicted the intelligence community statement. "Yes, I have," Trump said when asked whether he's seen evidence that would prove the coronavirus originated in the lab.
"I can't tell you that. I'm not allowed to tell you that," he said.
Professor Etler said that “Trump's accusations against China, and his advocacy of the discredited conspiracy theory that the Wuhan Institute of Virology Lab was responsible for COVID-19, are shameless.”
“Not only has he contradicted his own intelligence services but conclusive scientific evidence proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes COVID-19 is a naturally occurring virus that jumped from an animal population to humans by zoonotic transfer. While the Wuhan Virology Lab was studying coronaviruses there is absolutely no evidence that it possessed the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus as an object of study,” he told Press TV on Friday.
“Coronaviruses, including the one that causes SARS, are studied in virology labs around the world, including the US bio-weapons lab at Fort Detrick in Maryland. In fact, the Fort Detrick facility has a history of safety issues and closures far more serious than anything alleged to have taken place at the Wuhan lab,” he stated.
“The question then is, if the US demands that it have access to Chinese facilities to investigate its charges against China will it reciprocate and allow Chinese investigators to inspect the Fort Detrick lab?” he asked.
“There is mounting evidence, in fact, that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus did not originate in China but has earlier antecedents in the US. Will the US investigate that possibility and invite Chinese authorities to participate? If not, then Trump has no right to make spurious accusations against China,” he concluded.
