Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday that his party would stage countrywide protests if the government defied the Supreme Court's orders to hold Punjab elections on May 14, Aaj News reported.

In an interview with ARY News, Imran said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had "crashed" in Punjab and wanted to avoid elections by all means.

"However, we will not let them run away from polls. And if they flout the Supreme Court's order [on election], we will take to the streets," Imran said, adding that he will not let PML-N postpone Punjab elections beyond May 14 deadline.

To a question about talks with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Imran insisted that the government wanted to engage PTI only to avoid elections on May 14, adding that the talks [on elections across the country on the same date] could only go ahead if the government dissolved assemblies in May.

The PTI chief said he had mandated PTI's vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi to hold negotiations with the government, but no one from the government had contacted him so far.

The former premier said the PDM was making the judiciary controversial to undermine its verdicts regarding the polls. "They are even ready to abrogate Constitution to save to save themselves from a humiliating defeat in the elections."

solution is easy court can simply disqualify the cabinet and ECP or even the whole parliament who voted for it/signed for it..
but courts are too scared that marshal law will come as a result

courts arent fighting here with Shahbaz he is dummy, there fight is with hafiz Sahab (hazrat maulana Asim rehmatullah, ameer ul momeeneen)

PDM and the establishment don't want an election to happen. Even if that means breaking a constitution, causing mass starvation by rising inflation.

I do not think the folks in Pindi are that dumb, although we have been saying that since long and have been made to backtrack often!

Times are different now. As often said, pehle log haar lay kar istiqbal kartay thay, ab nhn karain gay. Ab jootian hi parain gi. Moreover social media is now a beast, one which I do not think they fully understand. ISPR main Col sahab ka bas idea hota hai 2000 day kar trend karwa lo koi cheez, but it's far more complicated than that.

And finally, whether we like to admit it or not, there are serious differences within the ranks too. Not lower ranks or OR, but among PSO's. They certainly do not mean mutiny or rebellion or any such thing, but it does mean keh kuch log meeting main beth kar yeh zaroor bolain gay keh sir yeh na karain. The estab is not as united for a takeover as it was in the yesteryears.

If push does come to shove, would be interesting to see if this move does sustain or not.

And that's how a functional institution should be. Not mutiny, but internal feedback should be encouraged.
