PDM's anti-govt movement has no future, says PM Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that PDM’s anti-government movement has no future and directed government spokespersons to give an effective response to PDM’s anti-military narrative.

According to details, a meeting of government and party spokespersons was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan, which discussed the country’s political situation.

During the meeting, it was also decided to take action on the anti-military statements of JUI-F leader Mufti Kifayatullah.

Talking about PDM head Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Imran Khan said that the nation should be informed of what the JUI-F leader’s assets are and how he managed to obtain them.

He said that the anti-government movement of PDM has no future. The Parliament is the best forum for dialogue and problem solving but the opposition used it for its own interests. They are answerable to the public for not taking part in the legislative process for the past two and a half years, he added.

The Prime Minister said that the opposition knows he will not give NRO under any circumstance, which is why they are putting pressure on the country’s military.

Imran Khan said that PDM is not an issue for the government, our focus is on solving public issues. The opposition’s unnatural alliance can no longer mislead the people by its lies, he said.

The PM reiterated that he would not be blackmailed by the opposition, saying that had PDM’s real issue been rigging, it would’ve supported the government in electoral reforms but in reality, it only wants NAB laws changed for its benefit.

PM Niazi was censored by National Media Regulatory Authority for his statements regarding the changes made to NAB through ordinances where he openly stated his party and select individuals in attendance would benefit from it.

The unconstitutional changes made have been declared null and void and yet no action taken against the people.

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad on Tuesday said that decision of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to resign from the assemblies has evaporated in the air after PPP decides against the move in its CEC meeting today, ARY NEWS reported.

Speaking to the media, the interior minister said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman will be very disappointed with the PPP decision and the PML-N would also had to wait for the next election after it.

“Zardari has played his cards well to safeguard his interests,” Sheikh Rasheed said while commenting that he had no knowledge of meetings with Shehbaz Sharif and it was an internal matter of the PML-N.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has played his cards well and the next year will be ruled by him owing to his better policies.

The interior minister further warned legal action over anti-state remarks of the politicians and said that the first case in this regard will be registered against Mufti Kifayatullah in Lahore.

“We will be registering a case against Mufti Kifayatullah in Lahore after complete preparation,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the federal government has decided to take action against Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Mufti Kifayatullah over his remarks against Pakistan Army.


The decision to take action against Mufti Kifayatullah was finalized in a meeting of government spokespersons and PTI leaders headed by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Mufti Kifayatullah was also arrested in October 2019 ahead of an Azadi March in Islamabad by the capital’s police for issuing provocative remarks against national institutions.
