The idea of producing the first Egyptian fighter returns to 2010, at the time it was then to cooperate with a foreign party Moscow or Paris, but the proposal did not come into force because of the political unrest in the country in the beginning of 2011 before the idea came back again After the arrival of President al-Sisi to the rule of the country, he believed that the domestic manufacturing of fighters and the quality of the Arab Organization for Industrialization will meet the demands of the armed forces in light of the high prices of warplanes in world markets, and this will enhance the potential of the products of the Egyptian armed forces at the global level..

Maj. Gen. Mohsen Tawfiq revealed that the General Command of the Armed Forces is keen to move towards local industrialization after achieving a great and unprecedented leap in modernizing its military systems during the last five years through cooperation with Russia, America, France and Germany, which enticed it to support the Egyptian military industry through the exploitation of resources and the huge potential that it possesses, pointing out that the Arab Organization for Industrialization is working during the current period on the production of the first fighter aircraft 100% made by the Egyptian industry.. and that it already went a long way in production and is expected to be announced during a global event in the end of 2018..

Although the source is weak somehow.. there are some signs that can not be ignored:

1- The history of the negotiations goes back to 2010, and the Thunder was very close in that period until the revolution took place in 2011..!

2- There is an unprecedented reference than in all the articles that have spoken about this matter before..The reference to the announcement of production at a global event by the end of 2018, which can be easily associated with the first International military exhibition EDX2018 to be held in Egypt by the end of 2018..!

3- There were some rumours that Egypt has started producing the Thunder with Egyptian upgrades and French avionics and other components.. And in the article _this goes in accord with the rumours_ when it says that it already went a long way in production..!

4- In January, Pakistan and China announced an attractive offer to Egypt that appeared to be a strong manufacturing offering..

5- Then there was a continuation of the Pakistani and Chinese visits to Egypt recently..!

6- There is a large number of Alfajet and Czech aircrafts that will be discharged from the service, almost within a 100 aircraft number.. and Thunder will be a good alternative to them..

So, we can conclude that as Egypt needs highly efficient fighter jets, as should be noted due to the presence of 4++ and 5th generation fighter in the region .. It also needs a plane to perform tasks that are lower in requirements such as patrol, ground support and training..The K8 is not this plane and with the departure of the MiG-21, the Alfajet and other obsolete aircraft I think Egypt will need an aircraft to replace them .. So the possibility of the JF-17 being this aircraft with Egyptian modifications, upgrades and respectable armament.. is quite normal.. This will allow to open the field for each of the Triple Sieve; Rafale, MIG-35, and F-16 to assume larger and more important tasks..

These signs have some logic behind them.. and despite the "weakness" of the source and some rumours.. they might be a solid proof..When we read between the lines..that Egypt is making its own version of the JF-17 Thunder ..

both CAC and SAC has teams that dealing with foreign prospective buyers`````due to the report system in China, you'll know it when its on final stage, or the first deed has been served````

so far we know JF-17 from CAC, but FC-31 is also on the table, not because of some rumor, but they have already drew the line between the domestic version and the export version, which you cant find on J-20, J-16 or J-15```````

the reason is eygpt are getting more f16s as low end, along with mig35 and adding rafale as high end

it will than decrease the overall size abit

thunders were on the table before eygpt was bankrolled by saudis to get the expensive rafale and mig35, and at a time when f16 were in doubt

We know all that.. and Egypt got economic loans and guarantees by Saudi Arabia .. The weapons purchase was Egyptian with loans from France, Russia and Germany.. this has been discussed many times on this forum!
The thing here is that now we are talking about an indigenous warplane in the making and to be announced in December 2018..All signs point to the JF-17 as the platform with Egyptian modifications.. and Western avionics.. It might also be the FC-31 as a platform who knows! Since China said in January this year that it has made an offer to Egypt that was very attractive..and hard to refuse..

There are no more F-16s coming.. where did you get that info? there is talk about upgrades and new missiles..

Another victim.
A victim in 2010..

Egypt had TOR and BUK air-defence systems for many years before it has shown and announced them publicly.. the announcement depends on the customer.. you know how Russia is fast in announcing deals.. but not in this case with Egypt, because the latter asked for it to be kept low profile for a reason or another concerning the customer..
