For those of you who don’t know Balkanization refers to the splitting of a country. Splitting into regions/countries usually who dislike each other. This word comes from the state of the Balkan peninsula in Europe in the 1800’s. From being one state/country it’s now split into multiple countries.

Why?
Because these were different communities with different cultures, languages and traditions. Now doesn’t that sound like our country? It’s a scary worry.
This isnt a new worry. When India gained independence, Scholars predicted Pakistan will be a successful state/country but India will fail. They didn't believe that a diverse nation like India will survive. They though sooner or later it will split into several countries. Not just scholars even our own ministers feared the same. First it was when states asked themselves to be split on linguistic lines. People at the centre feared this could spark sub-nationalistic movement. Only with the death of Potti Sreeramul did they relent. Second was when Sikhs wanted a seperate state for themselves. Again the fear was they could break away. This fear still exists to this date but albeit to a lot lesser extend.
These were not hollow fears but had substance to it. Before British captured large parts of India we didn’t recognise ourselves as Indian. We were Marathas, Sikhs, Oudhi, from Mysore kingdom, from Nizam’s land and so on. Yes, Aurangazab did manage it before the British but it didnt survive too long. And in those times there was no nationalism just kingdom. Not just Aurangzeb even Maurya’s tried but it couldn’t sustain.

If you notice both the maps looks similar but are centuries apart. This didnt exist the same in between. You can attribute it to the ambition of the magnitude of rulers and you will not be entirely wrong. But the ambitions were party due to them having feeling that they are being ruled by outsiders.
Also none of these maps contain the extreme south of india or the extreme east. Nagaland or the Nagas tried hard to carve out a country for themslevs. They might have pointed out the same maps and said “We were never part of the idea of India. We want to be a separate country. We have nothing in common with these Indian”. Unlike the majority, they are either English speaking christian or the native tribal people speaking myriads of languages and following their own religions and customs.
When India got freedom we were about 350 odd princely states. Each had a option, either to join India or Pakistan or remain free. Most of them were clear India or Pakistan. Only a few really thought they could survive free. One of them was the state of Travancore. They were really self sufficient and thought could survive on their own. They had a good system in place and might have gone that route. It was the result of hard campaigning from VP Menon, Sardar Patel and team that they agreed to be part of India.
India is more fit to be a continent than a country. Even geographically we have the plateau in the South, the deserts in the West, tallest mountains in the extreme north, wettest places in the East, lush forest in the centre and the plains in the North. This was just the appetiser. If we go a bit deeper we will find lot more anomalies. There are only a handfull of countries that can boast of such diversities in landscape. This leads to a diversity of lifestyle of people, that too of magnanimous proportions.
India is the only country with such a large population of vegetarians. This is mostly due to religious reasons. A brahmin(hindu priest community) doesn't have meat in most of the country. If a brahmin is found eating meat he will be banished from the society. But if you visit the Eastern part of India you will be surprised to find that a brahmin eats Fish and its not considered a sin. They pray, recite mantras, follow the scriptures of hindus, in all other ways they are hindu Brahmin except they have meat.
Earlier we were together because of our hatred towards British. But now it’s 60+ years since independence. I don't have the answer to the question why we are together. May be it’s our democracy, may be we are the only large hindu nation. I really don't have a clue.

I don’t think so but hindutva idiots will just destabilize their own country then they will pin the blame on Pakistan and China

still will take time.. Aurenzeb died in 1707, it took 140 years for mughals to collapse. Large ships take time sinking.. It is same as East Pak and West Pak are meant to separate as equivalence was not given.
So this curry of Brahmin/Dalit, Marathi/Bihari, Hindu/Muslim, North/?South will take its tool eventually. Unless Dehli changes its behaviour.

Yes of course it will happen but only in wet dreams of pakistani trolls.
Yes it will, stay with your Hindi in UP Bihar and don't impose it on Tamils and other non-Hindi speakers lest you want your country to break up

Who knows what will happen in the future ? Pakistan or the USA or China or any other country might look different, balkanized..

A lot of you people here in the "we hate India" gang get waay too easily exited. You guys view any random protest as a clear indication of tremendous strife and tension between groups in India, civil war soon, evil brahmanical system etc..

There was even a thread about some bus driver strike in Karnataka :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Our country has stayed United and it will always be so. Your wishful thinking will only harm you.

Overwhelming majority of Indians believe USA will be balkanised too.

China in Indian as well as other entities remain to be considered as 'separate' or the 'others'.

Now you can convince the Indian diaspora that it's not a good thing to wish for balkanised USA for some financial upturn.

Balkanization does not look likely for India in the foreseeable future, it's a very strong state militarily and economically. They do not like to admit it but they have zero chance.. a small chance in Kashmir, it'll be very tough for them but in Kashmir we do have problems.

What you on about? Tamil Nadu, Nagaland are other states were never ruled by Hindi speakers (which they are now). I suggest you check your facts

Kashmir has nothing to do with your balkanisation.

Its required for efficient bookkeeping.

Lol they have a democratically elected government in their states and a union government in the centre, they are free to vote for any party and are patriotic Indians. I think a little burnol will help easing your discomfort.
