Your Oxford dictionary source agrees with me, since Greek fire does not fire a "bullet or shell" using explosive force, but was more like a flamethrower.
Definition of Gun
https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/gun
A weapon incorporating a metal tube from which bullets, shells, or other missiles are propelled by explosive force, typically making a characteristic loud, sharp noise
(Now are you going to change your definition again?)
You do know Flamethrower IS A FIREARM? Right? it fire a jet of fire, from burning liquid/soild propellant (which would be the term "OTHER MISSILE").
If you don't believe me, make one using sulphur and petroleum and bring it to the police station and see if they arrest you for procession of firearm without permit??
