BJP Delhi MP Parvesh Verma on Monday shocked with his comments on the Muslim community and sparked a huge controversy. The MP reportedly said that Muslims of India have not voted for BJP ever and they wouldn’t do so in future as well. The reason he gave behind his statement was that, that the BJP is a ‘patriotic’ party. The BJP MP did not stop at that and further made comments that only made the situation worse for the rulling party. Verma, further said, “Are the Muslim children in madrasas provoked against the BJP? When I was asked why only the BJP is called a nationalist party, I said why terrorists in the nation are only Muslims and why Muslims do not vote for the BJP…because it does not want to come in the mainstream and does not want to get associated with development. Mayawati has said that if the Muslims vote for her then she can make the government.”
He also referred to the Ram Mandir issue and asserted and in an almost threatening tone that no force in the world can stop its construction. He added that BJP never does vote bank politics. Putting all the Muslims and the terrorists under one umbrella, the politician said “Desh mai har atankwadi Muslim kyu hota hai, aur muslim BJP ko vote kyu nai deta hai ye ek seedhi si baat hai, BJP ek rashtrya bhakt party hai isliye Muslim use vote nai krta hai” implying that Muslims of the country cannot be nationalists.”
BJP Delhi trying to not look bad because of these comments, stayed away from commenting on Verma’s controversial remarks, but instead distanced itself from them. BJP MPs have been stirring controversies and are seen making things difficult for BJP in the coming elections. Earlier this month Dilip Ghosh, commenting on Mamata Bannerjee’s rallies and her criticism of PM Modi’s demonetisation policy had said that had he wanted ‘his’ party in Delhi could have grabbed Mamata Banerjee by the hair and have her thrown out of the city. Another BJP leader stirred controversy last week when a video of him singing the wrong words of National Anthem emerged on social media.
