Hi,
There are a lot of important incidents related to current affairs that are ephemeral.Like the current North Korean Vs USA spat.
After a week or so everything would calm down and no one would care for that part of the world but meanwhile there are bound to be dozens of thread opened for news with slight variations from one another.
So why not make a third category of thread which would act as sticky thread for a short period of time.
Then there could be sticky thread for perpetual conflicts like Israel Vs Palestine and ordinary thread for single issue discussions and semi sticky for important current affairs.
Alternatively
Management board could give some mod a responsibility to merge all threads which are opened on some important occurrence in the world.That would serve as a semi sticky thread by default.
