NATO is made up of many countries, each defined by its own language. Each expects others to defend itself, but each is not willing to sacrifice to defend others. This is why NATO is not an effective alliance.

Umm.... you would find that many countries did.... nato is a defensive grouping.... it does not exist to further the colonial enterprise of some countries to secure oil based on a lie about WMD... additionally there was also no UN authorisation or legal justification

Nato and Iraq misadventure are two completely separate issues...

.
Didn't know that. Interesting stuff. Well then, nobody helped the US in Iraq except fellow English speaking Britain.

Geez are you confused.

Nobody helped Britain during the 1982 Falklands war. Not a SINGLE one. As a matter of fact, France, a Romance speaking country, aided fellow Romance speaking Argentina with arms.

BBC finds evidence that French helped Argentines sink our ships | Falkland Islands News | The Week UK

Well, I suppose other European nato members took over some duties from the UK, so that it could send the RN south.

The European Community, of which the United Kingdom is a member, fully supported the UK's position and opposed the invasion of the Falklands, the community also supported the United Nations Resolution requesting that Argentina withdraw from the islands. When Argentina refused, the community announced sanctions against Argentina.

France provided Mirage and Etendard aircraft, identical to the ones that the country had supplied to Argentina, for British pilots to train against.
...
France provided intelligence to help fight the Exocet missiles that she had sold to Argentina, including details of special electronic countermeasures that at the time were only known to the French armed forces

if a request had ever been made; not least, it would have meant US personnel becoming directly involved in the conflict, manning this ship, as training British forces to crew the vessel would have taken years. Iwo Jima could operate British (Sea) Harriers: it had been a trials ships for testing the concept of the sea control ship, using AV-8As, the US variant of the Harrier.
