Historically speaking Italy is a very interesting place. And its not only Rome and the Pope. Almost all big cities in Italy have their own unique history(Venice, Florence, Genoa etc). But lets face it. The time when Rome was the center of Europe has passed centuries ago. Mussolini tried to revive Rome and he ended up a joke. And this is not something i say to insult you. I am Greek myself and i am kinda annoyed when i hear Greeks saying "Greece invented civilization so Europe must write of its debts".
