Maybe I didn't explain properly.

If there were no Indian Muslims, the GoI would still keep the Israeli relationship low key to avoid alienating Iran too much.

Therefore, to put the blame for this "mistreatment" of Israel onto Indian Muslims is to use them as a scapegoat.

& do u think, Iran doesn't know how GOOD & STRONG Indo-Israeli relationship is?? For one, ISRO launched an Israeli Tecsar spy satellite which was solely launch for the purpose of spying on Iran.

The problem here is that India want to maintain a fine balance b/w Middle east - Israel, Iran-Israel, Palestine-Israel policies & every stakeholder be it Palestine, Iran, Arab countries, Indian Muslims, Indian Communists, etc. knows how strong the Indo-Israeli relationship is but HOSTING a top Israeli leader in India & giving him the Guard of Honor & other privileges as any top leader of the world will only result in disruption of the FINE BALANCE that India has maintain successfully over the years.

This is an assumption that the majority of Indian Muslims give a damn about supposed Ummah issues more than national interests.

The few who do, nobody gives a flying ****.

India should be more open about the relationship. If there is a need for it.

Else the current arrangement is working fine.

And Pakistanis don't need to speak for any Indians including Indian Muslims.

Especially those who think any patriotic Indian Muslim "need to jump ever higher to prove their patriotism".

Now some of them have started becoming more Indians than the Indians as well!

After having been more Chinese than the Chinese, more Arab than the Arabs and more Turk than the Turks for decades!

I dont think iran is much of a factor here may be apart from the oil and other resources india get from iran but then if it would have meant anything to iran, iran would have taken steps immediately after closure of indo-US ties ...

At the end of the day iran too needs a buyer for its products ,a country which is already alienated will never think of ruining the relationship with few of its buyers

Also the recent development in Saudia Arabia-india relations have not prompted iran much , Recent development b/w Saudia Arabia-india means an alternative source for india to get the oil so india will not be much bothered about iran if thats the case

Although oil is important, and diversifying supplies is always good, the geographic factors I mentioned (Afghanistan, Pakistan, CARs) add an extra weight to the India-Iran relationship. It's about a whole lot more than just oil.

Also, the India-Saudi relationship is nowhere near the level of the India-Israel relationship, so the comparison is void.

As for Indian Muslims vote bank, that factor is hyped up. Indian Muslims need Congress more than Congress needs them. Like I wrote, what other choice do Indian Muslims have? If Congress abandons them, will they vote for BJP?

More than oil...it's chabahar port which matters for India.

India already has influence in afghanistan and the current govt is pro-india so afghanistan is not a problem for india ....Rather they are already extracting the strategic benefits of their influence ...

Saudi -india relations are getting better and initially its the trust which will bring both countries closer ,any mis-adventure at the start of the relation may act as a repellent force for them

As far as indian muslims are concerned today there was a report that BJP have won 8 out of 12 seats in muslim majority areas so that holds some weight;although no further comments on that

Iran will never ever want to spoil its relations with one of the few countries that are not against iran ,iran already knows that bothe countries have good relations with each other i.e india and israel
Iran apparently doesnot seem to be bothered about it....any visits will not hold any weight until their is an evidence of india helping israel against iran whether directly or indirectly

On the other hand india know that israel india relations are already strong enough to get spoiled over such little things, india is more important for israel coz india is biggest buyer of israel equipment and amounts for a good chunk of money inflow ...India knows it and when you know you have nothing to loose sometimes you get carried away with them compared to those with whom you have sensitivities involved like in case with Saudia Arabia
