Actually, a state govt was dismissed in the 1950s or early 60s - Kerala through what the SC termed as unconstitutional means. It was an elected Communist Govt. - that can be termed a bloodless coup of sorts.

A coup or not doesn't matter.What matters is that the country keeps running and progress. Good for India that Army doesn't meddle with politics. A coup gives many good things and a coup gives many bad things!

We did have Indira Gandhi who set us back 10 years making a farce of democracy. Then immediately after her, Morarji Desai set us back 50 years in the name of democracy. India's done well since 1991 though.

How about balls but no brains? That's what we have and it seems by far the worst case scenario.
Ideally, for someone else, their lack of brains would bother me far more than a lack of balls.

Then again, yours truly lacks none of these features.

I don't think people should worship democracy like that.
When the politicians abuse democracy,this gives room for a coup.Until Pakistan is blessed with mature and patriot politicians,the current ones must never be given the assurance of a democracy because they will always abuse it.The sword of damocles ( I.e a coup ) shall always hang on their head.
Or in a better scenario,democracy must never be promised for the current thugs untill unless a fool proof system of elections prevails in Pakistan so that it is assured that sitting in the parliament are the actual reps of the people and no one shall remove them by force.
Untill then...no chance.

He said that 200 years back. That's like saying "Humans can never reach Mars because historically there was no one who reached Mars".

Since then, the world has become by and large democratic leaving a handful of countries aside.

Cuz Indianarmy is too weak to take the pressure of running a government , they cant handle the saftey of the country alone. They have 700,000 troops in kashmir alone. Such weak pathetic army which cant provide adequate security can run a country???

They are helpless before bodo rebels,maoists ,nagaland groups. Run a country, Yeah!!!

Maybe because India never had to face any situation demanding for a coup.Its that simple!

Whilst its other problems exist, this is a blessing that allowed India to jump forward with proper certainty today and become an integrated nation, whilst Pakistan still cant decide what its identity is , is almost constantly at war with its citizens and for the most part makes "three steps forward two steps back" progress.
