Pakistan's intelligence agency has been ranked as Number One intelligence outfit of the world. According to the ranking, the second best is Israel's Mossad. MI6 and CIA are ranked as number 3 and 4 respectively. RAW has been ranked as number 9. According to the ranking, with the lengthiest track record of success, the best known Intelligence so far on the scale of records is ISI. The Inter-Services Intelligence was created as an independent unit in 1948 in order to strengthen the performance of Pakistan’s Military Intelligence during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947. Its success in achieving its goal without leading to a full scale invasion of Pakistan by the Soviets is a feat unmatched by any other through out the intelligence world. KGB, The best of its time, failed to counter ISI and protect Soviet interests in Central Asia. This GOLD MEDAL makes it rank higher than Mossad. It has had 0 double agents or Defectors through out its history, considering that in light of the whole war campaign it carried out from money earned by selling drugs bought from the very people it was bleeding, The Soviets. It has protected its Nuclear Weapons since formed and it has foiled Indian attempts to attain ultimate supremacy in the South-Asian theatres through internal destabilization of India. It is above All laws in its host country Pakistan ‘A State, with in a State’. Its policies are made ‘outside’ of all other institutions with the exception of The Army. Its personnel have never been caught on camera. Its is believed to have the highest number of agents worldwide, close to 10,000. The most striking thing is that its one of the least funded Intelligence agency out of the top 10 and still the strongest.

This answers the critical question; why everyone in India and USA and those in Pakistan are out to get this powerful arm of Pakistan's security establishment. Those who are being convinced of its perceived misdeed are being misguided and those who use the opportunity to attack ISI through media, including some anchors and politicians are only strengthening the hands of Pakistan's enemies.

You're basing this ranking on some un-accredited, user compiled internet "rank-em" list??? Why start the thread? The reason people attack the ISI, not try to dis-credit them, they do this to themselves, is because of the role the ISI plays in supporting many undesirable outfits from AQ the Taliban to LeT and many more. The issue many have with the ISI is that it seems to have no morals when it comes to ensuring its own interests are looked after and that includes willfully murdering innocents and supporting the SCUM of the earth. There is little to no oversight for the ISI and they are so powerful within Pakistan they can effectively do as they please and are so far away from being merely any intel agency it is absurd. The fact the the ISI has been linked with numours banned terror groups in the world, that under their perview so much wrong is done and the fact that despite the civil arm of the GoP appearing to say one thing the ISI does the complete opposite.

Fair enough but if this is the ISI's mission statement then it is going to continue to be exposed to the world in a bad light. And whilst MI6 and CIA could be said to have questionable morals I'd say that even they drew the line at supporting a 26/11 type attack on another country. But I take your point- the CIA's drone policy has taken a lot of wind out of my argument.

The fact that the ISI has held its own against agencies like RAW, CIA, and Mossad by itself speaks to its abilities. Those who disagree will probably dismiss this as conspiracy theory but the fact remains that despite having a small budget ISI is one of the best intelligence agencies in the world.

i would have been very worried had the enemies of Pakistan and traitors within been praising Pakistan army and the ISI.

As the rule goes when ever ur enemies praise u, it means that u are failing at ur job to protect the nation and ur interests. while on the other hand if ur enemies are screaming against u and doing every thing possible to stop u and undermine u, that is a very clear indication that u are doing something right.

There are going to be many people who are not going to agree on ISI being the No.1 Intelligence Agency in the world & I can understand the reason why they will not accept the fact.

It is US & India mainly who are after the ISI & Pak Army the reason is quiet simple it is because of these two Pakistan is alive & after the departure of Gen. Musharraf someone corrupt had to come in Pakistan & run things according to the wishes of US & India, we know who that is it can’t get worse then Mr. Gadari. Soon after he stepped in we saw a letter issued to ISI & they were ordered to come under Ministry of Interior, US thought this is going to be too easy for them but it is as hard as a diamond for them. After that the bashing begun on Pak Army & the ISI, it is been done by the corrupt sold out puppet politicians, corrupt sold out media channels (It was this media who were saying India is involved in Balochistan & Northern Areas of Pakistan but after the release of Millions of Dollars from US to the Media channels they changed their views & thoughts on Pakistan Army & the ISI, you all know this), Anchormen (Hamid Mir is on the top of the list), sadly even Courts & Supreme Court etc. All of them speak against ISI & Pak Army, they only speak & read US & Indian language & script.

Pakistan Army & the ISI is well aware of the threat & by the look of how cool & calm they are it looks like they know what needs to be done & all of these corrupt puppet bastards are on their hit list. INSHAALLAH all of them will pay for their crimes against Pakistan.

I don't care of ranking, all i know that ISI failed to take preventive measures to stop insurgency, they were sleeping when Terrorists took over almost complete province and we did military operation and millions were displaced and precious lives were lost, ISI is still struggling against TTP & BLA.

the purpose of intelligence agencies is to protect interests of their country, they are not a moral police and will do anything to protect their country and this is what ISI does very well.

Depends on who you mean by 'People'. Other countries attack the ISI because it is effective, it is the thorn in their sides which is disrupting their footholds in the region, it is not allowing them to fulfil their goals. That's why people hate Mossad as well, because like it or not, they are very successful in protecting national interests and thwarting enemy plans against their state.
