Why do Indians burn baby elephants alive?

As the human population grows, it continues to encroach on territories wildlife was given.

Farmers/villagers in the area probably throw cocktails to scare away wildlife from stomping on their crops.

Either way it's sad.

The photographer says the calf wasn't set on fire intentionally.

Whenever elephants encroach into human settlements, the forest officials hire people to drive them away. These people use fireballs to scare them away. So what you see is a fireball acting up. The elephant's hair must have caught fire.

Elephants attacking people is very common.

A rampaging male elephant that has killed nine Indian villagers in two years has been sent to 'rehab' after being captured with the help of four specially trained beasts.

The encounter happened in eastern India where five people were killed in two separate attacks.
Four of the victims died in the village of Bhatar in West Bengal state on Sunday morning when three elephants apparently strayed from their herd.

The ‘rogue’ elephant that had killed 15 people -- 11 in Jharkhand and 4 in Bihar -- was shot dead on Friday, said principal chief conservator of forest (Wildlife) LR Singh.

A wild elephant killed at least 44 people this week in northeast India,

Nah man, dont bother (past this at least), let the "all indians" or all "whoever" agenda keep going on this forum. We all know what happens to a thread when its "all Pakistanis" that is in the OP....actually the irony is the OP has done just that and got negative ratings and bans in those cases...but guess butter another piece of bread and its totally halal/kosher then :P

No one really wants to talk/engage seriously. You see the whole world is such a paragon of virtue except for India which is complete opposite. Coddled safe spaces and enforced group think are always totally required, and better yet constructive and productive things you see.

Identity politics and baiting is name of the game these days. Give one red pill per thread like you done, let it get taken up or rejected by whomever and move along. Save the real effort for people that matter more, most are not found in this forum, that should be painfully obvious I hope.

Have you asked why our Spanish brethren kill bulls in a ring for fun?

It's still a perfectly legal sport in Spain (bullfighting) and until recently fox hunting was legal here in the UK. Learn not to look down on others as that's what I get from your tone....a sense of superiority.

But yes it's a shocking video....

Should all Europeans share the guilt of bullfighting and fox hunting? Open your horizons sonny....

@ValerioAurelius I know about this incident. Incident happened some km from my home. Its shocking and disturbing. People who have done this are arrested and case is going on.
But you know elephants are increasing in number. The forest which used to sustain them are not able to do so.
More and more they are coming to human settlements for food. A single elephant can eat over a hector of rice a day. If its a herd they can bring havoc. Even they raise buildings for food.
Wild elephants are more dangerous than tigers. In our area only around 20 people dies every year due to elephant attack.
This is where the conflict is happening. People are trying to protect their hard earned crop by all their means, even they are using illegal ways, like the one in this case.
Govt, it trying all means to protect them. You can get away by killing a man, but not with harming a elephant.
Pakistanis should take a serious measure to protect wild life in Pakistan. Elephant, Tiger is extinct. Licences are given to people for a game to kill Kharchal.
Wrong

Humans are encroaching on THEIR environment :)

In such cases all people in that village should get death penalty. Ig must be made clear, zhatmine elephant is worth life of all villagers. That way you also deal with the overpopulation there. Throwing fire on n elephant mother and her baby is simply disgusting.

Elephants are super intelligent. What is done there is sick.

The elephants should be brought into environmentally suitable nature reserves that are fenced.

They also burnt a caged leopard alive, I will not upload the vid, it is too distressing.
@jamahir @The Sandman

Wtf? Humans bro are real enemies of nature :hitwall::tsk:

I too have a vid about a leopard being beaten to death in a Indian village and it is too distressing for me to watch it completely.

There is another vid from "Syrian Girl" ( Mimi al-laham ) showing a so-called "Syrian rebel" about to cut a cat's throat so as to eat him/her and the cat is screaming. I vomited the ice cream I had just eaten.

The problem is that many South Asians and those alike to such a culture when gathered in mobs are capable of great cruelty and no intelligent thinking.

@django bhai, remember the lynching of Mashal Khan and the burning alive of a afghan woman, Farkhunda.

You people are retards, you need mental help

^^

If i had the choice of keeping one exotic animal as pet it would be an elephant :D

Seems a case of elephants attacking fields and settlements.

if you see the pics they have no intention of burning the elephant but to ward them off. Regarding the award it is not surprising, west always tries to picture east as some kind of weird civilization.

There is a picture published in almost evry big media in Europe and USA. It shows a baby elephant screaming with pain, his entire back is in fire. His mother runs infront it, also screaming and its foot catched fire as well. Behind that you see a mob pf savages hunting those two.

The picture is named "welcome in hell" and won an award.

The backlash in the media is enormous. People comment that indians are absolute savages. That the EU pays them 1 billion development money per year and this should stop.

The picture itself is hard to endure...

Are indians aware, that things like this destroy their entire renomee? Do they realize, what image they get in the world, first by the massive rape cases over there and now by burning baby elephants?

Long ago , women were also burned alive in Hinduism after her husband was dead .

I meant no disrespect to indians but I do find some teachings weird .

you have no idea about Hinduism. Sati is extinct practice.

But it did exist.

I do not remember any of my Grand mother or any of the generations did this practice. In Mahabharata this practice was mentioned once but then again when Ravana Died his wife did not do sati. So this seems an isolated incident. This is incident is used to throw mud on Hinduism.
