Why China does not need democracy, how Chinese official selection system works

You must be very old and with a mind being stuck in the Cold War era.
Old and much wiser than you, son.

All we have to do is read the Chinese postings on the defunct CDF and on this forum to know that your China has never abandoned the Cold War mentality, just like we have not.

China never had that mentality cause China was never a big part of it. You are stuck in the past and can never get with the times.

In democracy dishonest politicians throw in millions of dollars trying to trick people into believing them and thinking that people having a choice.

...common sense. Only the most experienced and competent person should get the top spot job and the assessment should be based on their past achievements when working at different levels of management.
Really ?

Considering China's current drive to root out corruption throughout her government's institution, how much money do you think each corrupt politician spent in his lifetime to get to where he is ? Common sense, you say ?

http://www.scmp.com/comment/insight...ti-corruption-drive-chinas-military-may-prove
Corruption in the armed forces is so pervasive that it threatens to undermine China’s ability to wage war.

Mathematically, no major military in the world is more corrupt than the PLA, in terms of numbers and the seniority of the servicemen convicted.
Using the military is ideal because it is one extreme element of a country's many institutions.

Promotions in the military is closed to public inputs. No matter the country's ideological/political bent. The military is not -- by nature -- a democratic institution. The higher the rank in the commissioned officer corps, the lower the quantity of candidates. The QUALITY of the candidates is a different matter.

So really how many yrs have the PLA been served by generals and admirals whose main competency is how to get to the top by way of corruption ?

...Xi has replaced 70 of the 100 most senior PLA positions and installed commanders more loyal to him to fill the void.
Loyal to Xi and not the institution ? How is that going to help the PLA becoming a more professional military ? The PLA is going from one idol to the next.

Less extreme than the military are the political institutions of the country's leadership. For your China, they might be less opaque but precisely because there are no public scrutiny and inputs, corrupt and technically incompetent officials populate the strata of those institutions. Instead of millions going to campaign advertisement, pollsters, and rallies, how many millions went to family members of other corrupt politicians as laundering methods to curry internal support for the next round of promotions at the next party congress ?

You talk of what is 'suitable' instead of what is universal ? That is a fair argument. We will grant you that. Then what is 'suitable' for China will be the cycle of purges and re-entrenchments of corruption in China's governmental institutions from one party leader to the next. There goes 'common sense'.

i am fully convinced at 2:25 into this video.

doesn't mean you should organ-harvest from your death-row prisoners though!
yes, i understand the worst dissidents like the few that can be found trying to get on the political stage or with too stubborn an approach to dillema's the Party can't solve, need to be executed. otherwise that problem festers and becomes so huge mass anti-riot actions are needed, which harm way more people.
so i'll ignore the fact you use the death-penalty..

i'll change my stance (back!) to supporting Beijing over areas like Hong Kong and Tibet, but not Taiwan.

and where's the Chinese research contributing to artificially-grown, well-functioning human organ replacements?
you certainly have the resources to contribute, you know.

Falun Gong : that is as far as i can help you. that will probably, highly likely, never change.

The western media can make up all those crazy stories to smear China since people like you who never have any experience visiting or living in China are so ready to be brainwashed and believe China is exactly like what the western media depicts. How China can develop so fast and becomes the country where everyone is talking about, that is something you should ask yourself and think.

He freaking China expert but never set foot in China, ignored the hater. What the freak he know about China for his opinion to be taken seriously by Chinese on this forum.

lol, this is epic from a cold war ideology infested foul brain ```welcome to 21st century where Western cold war propaganda still dictates few half-w1ts brain to "think"

he believes sitting in a basement keep intaking Western propaganda is an ideal way to be "informative" regarding vertually anything```

Chinese guys, either you keep this civilized, or you end up facing *more* (also valid) criticism from me, not less.
For instance, i don't like your support for North-Korea *one* *bit*.

And i know how utterly stupid *Chinese* propaganda (even the stuff the Chinese gov spreads to it's own citizens) can be.
I'm far from ignorant.

And i live on the 2nd floor, not in a basement ;)

dear Chinese posters on this forum, defenders of China if you will,

you need to realize a guy like me is going to point out what can be improved, every time i'm offered to offer my opinion.

you also need to realize that thanks to the video that started this thread (a much more polite and smart man talking by the way in that video), i am now of the opinion that China indeed does not need a multi-party political system. And probably won't for a long time to come.

I wouldn' t say we do not need democracy, but rather, how is it implemented & when is the question. I say whatever works now let it be so, and the people will be the judge.

opportunities multiply as they are seized, your Sun Tzu quote..

i greatly admire Sun Tzu too.

but please do realize that for the foreseeable future, your Chinese government in Beijing really does not tolerate calls for democracy (aka a multi-party system). they'll be forced to strike down (use police and military force against..) any protests towards that goal too.

Before our nation reunite, calling for democracy is asking for national suicide, nothing trumps the stability & unity of our nation.

Also, when we do implement democratic values, it will be by careful measures & restraint over time. We are certainly clear minded about the wholesale effect of democratic movements through the Arab Spring & Euromaidan. No thanks.

When opportunities arises under the right circumstances, we will multiply it.

You just brought a good old quote into the modern age :)
i do that myself sometimes ;)

and i agree with the rest of what you said.

In the meantime, do not criticize democracy as a principle as so many of your fellow Chinese have done and are doing.

Your comment is a tacit admission that democracy in a general principle and its various methods of execution are preferred. Only brainwashed sheeple do not want a voice in their government. No American is advocating China adopt wholesale the American or European implementation of democratic ideas. But we do advocate that the core of democracy that is multi parties participation be allowed. That is the first step towards the implementation of other ideas. If you do not believe in multi parties participation, you will never be a true democratic society.

Yes Genius, being able to have a say on who becomes the leader of the nation is desired.
Question is if that is productive and the effectiveness of its implementation.
Communism is also ideal except so far there is no successful implementation or ever will.
The criticism is about cowboys who think their version of democracy is utopia and have it foisted onto others.

In case your comprehension has deteriorated with aging, this is what @Pangu said.

Singapore's "democratic" President is elected from a group of candidates vetted and approved by a committee, similar to what was proposed in Hong Kong. Though it is not at the level of a general election, it serves as a good example of an in practice alternative form of universal suffrage democratic election.
Our President draws a salary of 1SGD$1,568,900/yr (US$1,188,560), so no small fry.

For 2017 Presidential Elections we have ONLY ONE candidate qualified to stand for Universal Free and Fair Democratic Election.
http://www.straitstimes.com/singapo...rtificate-set-to-be-singapores-next-president
Halimah Yacob only one to get eligibility certificate, set to be Singapore's next President.

FYI Halimah Yacob is the Speaker of the House from the ruling party before she was strongly urged to resign and run for President. All the other candidates were ruled ineligible, not qualified by last minute modifications to the election criteria.
No venom from the US because we are not China ?
