Actually they really don't, in military. I remember I had made hundreds of push ups at daily roll calls just because I had a very little whisker on my face. So probably beards are the one of the very few things that I really hate. First hand experience

I thought its allowed in navy, at least in Indian navy they allow( not full grown but trimmed one)

Interesting. I believe that facial hair should not be allowed. People may have religious reasons but your job is not 08 to 17 daily at desk. It's solely different that it requires to do what is proper. We see Germans are also allowed to have facial hair but come on. I just looked them on net, they're like models for army's uniform tender or sth. The first ever rule of any armed force is discipline. Religious reasons can't be telerated.

@T-123456 @Sinan @xenon54 - Can you guys please tell Neptune that he doesn't need to string together fictitious stories about why he doesn't have a beard because none of us will crack jokes at him just because of his inability to grow a beard where even after 6 months without shaving his face looks as hairless as a Baby's butt !
