i dont know if threads like this is allowed, where a question is asked instead of it being some recent news or data.

but i was just wondering. why are Bangladesh and Myanmar enemies? when did it start? is it just because of the Rohingya issue? militarily who is stronger between the two of them?

They have minor issues between them. A dispute over an island, fishing problems, and recently rohingya. Nothing as catastrophic as our relations with bharat or afghans.

First when they crossed NAF river while trafficking drugs and shot at us back in 2000s... they sent us an aggressive letter for shooting back... we killed 600 of em until they calmed down and sent us a letter to ceasefire... (this is also the time when we sent truckloads of Indian BSF to india, the BDR chief (BGB) was forced retired shortly)
THEN in 2008 they claimed st Martin and sent a warship with South Korean oil drill to look for oil in our territory, we sent a corvette and a frigate and they ran off...
Then some other border skirmishes, they kidnapped or shot and killed our soldier... we mortared and killed 2 officers of theirs...
Then BDR mutiny happened, Their balls were sacked, BGB was created...
Since we we have done nothing except very recently when we shot a BSF shorts wearing soldier in the head... and at another seperate occasion took firing position at BSF for trying to push in Indian disabled people into bd...
They have been laying claim to st Martin multiple times, live off of smuggling drugs to bd... so yeah we’re enemies for these reasons

They are not enemies in a true sense. Instead, they have a lot of strategic interests in common. As the Western powers want a foothold in China's border through Burma, they are using neighboring Bangladesh as a vehicle. If you follow the Bengali social media, a lot of Bengalis also consider Burma's Arakan region to be a part of Bangladesh. It comes as no surprise that there exists an Arakan separatist group called 'ARSA'.

Guys, I tell you one old historical event of 1430 AD. The sitting Arakanese King was deposed by his nephew with the help of the Burmese. Historically, Arakan was independent of Burma or Bengal. The deposed King fled to Gaud in about 1410. After pleading to restore him on the throne, the then Bengal Sultan Ghyasuddin Azam Shah sent an expedition of Muslim troops in 1430 and restored him.

This event is probably the starting point of enmity between Bengal/Bangladesh and Burma. There are many other historical events after that. Anyway, it is very natural that two neighboring countries dislike each other.

I personally do not hate Burma after reading the novel SRIKANTO by Sharatchandra Chatterjee long time ago.

Once a USA senator also said that they want to make Arakan as part of Bangladesh and emotional Bengalis were happy.

We should understand that all are international game.

But the problem is it's hard to discuss here. Any analysis will be mocked since there are no evidences available for common folks.

Asking evidences is also a western trick.

I believe the western block will try to create another Al Qaeda and Taliban and India will act as their foot soldier and will try to make Bangladesh another Afghanistan through Jamat e Islami and it's youth shibir.

So yes Bangladesh should remain very careful. Things are becoming dirtier in this region!

It's always very hard to deal lamb coated wolves.

This is a good analogy. There is no point providing references ( which are in millions) of Biochemistry to one who has no basic knowledge of Biochemistry to begin with. Why would then an 'undergrad business student' seek reference of Bio-Chemistry who doesn't know the basics ? Strategic studies are no less complex than modern Biochemistry. Try to investigate this question.

Not really enemies.... burma is a barely functioning conglomerate of tiny states...

Rohingya is a major issue.... once they go back st martins will remain a tiny storm in the tea cup that will flare from time to time.

Short sharp conflict probably in the horizon if burmese military loses control....but tiny possibility.

Bottom line not enemies not friends and fairly detached from one another.

Myanmar seems to have a lot of problems. Might not any animosity come from the fact Myanmar is unstable and thus looking for fights?

interesting read. If the evil "West" (and yes some in the "West" are evil..everyone at the top and influence could be for all I know) wants to ruin Bangladesh why have Japan funding rail and roads? Why encourage a garment industry there? Do people in the evil "West" not want clothes?

Might not those things be placed there (even by racist people) because they don't want Bangladeshis moving? To stop them from moving they try to make their lives better there.

West isn't evil, but neither angels too. China also funded us , all are part of business.

I will answer your question , but first you have to answer me , are you a Canadian origin or Bharati origin living in Canada?

My answers will be different according to your identity.

But I doubt that any pure western will ask question in this manner , as it's actually south Asian style ( or origin )of asking a question.

I don't understand. Just tell the truth or perhaps there is some reason you cannot. Maybe you guys are facing many more problems there than I can imagine. Don't even know what this South Asian style is. I am 4th generation in Canada, ancestors from England, Scotland and one from Germany (Bavaria). Sorry dude, I also don't know what a Bharati is. I can look the word up, though.

As far as the "West" not being evil goes....why is my ground water poisoned? People here not evil? killing people and taking their land is just business? Not for me it isn't. Guess I am not a Roman or a German.
