Aijaz Ahmed talks about how the NPT agreement cannot be applied to Iran and others, simply because NPT was based on the promise that all nuclear weapons in the world would be destroyed, but they aren't.

This is the US stand:

Israel and its allies are pecaeful states (Hirishima and Nagasaki, Vietnam War, Israeli occupation of Palestine are all burning examples of that) so they have the devine right to possess WMD. Other states, like Iran and Venezuela, are simply too violent, they dare to demand sovereignty, they reject uncle sam's prescriptions; if these states possess WMD the ongoing nuclear blackmail by peaceful states like the US and Israel will be largely ineffective and naturally uncle sam will become very restless and violent for being stripped of its devine right and that is, of course, a threat to world peace and stabilty. So countries like Iran and Venezuela must not possess WMD.
