how normal is it in pakistan to get mugged at gun point(outside karachi)... also who employs personal security guards?(except multimillionairs)...Getting a license is a headache. Then need to get it registered within 30 days. then need to buy a weapon within 30 days. Then need to register that weapon on that license within 30 days. Licenses are of different types, usually for 5 years.
I heard MNA/MPA quota of allotting 50 licenses per month is abolished.
Although its a personal choice but there are security alternatives to pistols also.
A different deterrent could be a good guard Dog like German Shepherd or Rottweiler. Security Cameras are another good option. Many security companies give good services and install triggering security devices in home.
Private Security guards starting cost is Rs 30,000 monthly e.g. retired army personnel. Retired Infantry and SSG soldiers are rare to find, SSG ones are more expensive. Its still risky, trusting a stranger with a gun to protect you and your family.
Hiring guards through security company is easier but the age range will be 45+ and price somewhat around 30,000 for 24 hours and 2 guards on 12 hour shifts.
A personal weapon can be useful outside home as mugging (mobile/wallets/cars/ATM etc) incidents have become common in all major cities. But weapon should be carried concealed which defies its threat to a mugger as a deterrent. A person or his family or gun carrying individual may not be at home at all times. People go for vacations, weddings, eids etc to other cities.
I think very rare.how normal is it in pakistan to get mugged at gun point(outside karachi)
Politician mostly. No sure about Karachi but other than that most multimillionaires only employ home guards.who employs personal security guards?(except multimillionairs)...
If you are not vigilant, it can happen. You can watch youtube vidz. narrating stories is boring.how normal is it in pakistan to get mugged at gun point(outside karachi)...

in india hiring maids/cook is quite common, personal driver less common(upper middle class only) and guard is very rare... there are some watchmen in apartment building but they usually just got a stick...If you are not vigilant, it can happen. Most of the people who hire maids, servants to cook, personal drivers can also afford a guard and sometimes do. Its not that expensive. There is usually a maid or a servant in every house with kids in a middle class/upper middle home.
Having maids/servants for house and kids is a trend. Having a guard isnt a trend as such.in india hiring maids/cook is quite common, personal driver less common(upper middle class only) and guard is very rare... there are some watchmen in apartment building but they usually just got a stick...
how can one be vigilant to mugging? do you mean not go outside late at night alone?
this sounds more brazil than pakistan..Having maids/servants for house and kids is a trend. Having a guard isnt a trend as such.
If driving a car:
1. lock all doors
2. keep an eye if being followed by a suspicious bike or car for a certain distance, try changing route to be sure.
3. choose roads wisely knowing the amount of traffic at certain times of the day
4. stop the car at red light with distance of one car from next car (and pray the bikers dont fit in that gap isntantly)
5. better to have a second seater
6. Install DASH CAM (best for insurance purposes and law cases involving accidents)
7. Dont park car in isolated places. park car near banks or shops with security cameras.
8. better to have an accompanying friend or relative if possible.
9. Go out of house only if necessary.
10. Avoid ATM's at places notorious for mugging. Better to use cheque in bank timings or in emergency ask a friend for cash at hand.
11. Make all business transactions or private (like selling car/house etc) inside the bank
12. Use familiar roads and tell family truthfully where you are off to before you leave home.
13. Dont draw down windows of car to beggars.
14. If a stranger approaches car and wants to talk, dont pull down window, dont unlock car.
15. Dont give hails.
16. Report suspicious activity or accidents to police. dont make car an ambulance and carry off injured people. call an ambulance. The paramedics and ambulance are paid by state to do their jobs. you are not.
17. Dont listen to songs loudly that distract your concentration.
18. make use of high beam where necessary in darkness or to check something/someone at a distance.
19. Dont smoke as you may need to open windows.
20. Be courteous and polite following road rules but firm.
21. Avoid Road Rage. Road belongs to everyone. Dont instigate a situation.
You are over reacting on it. There is no such severe situation at all.Having maids/servants for house and kids is a trend. Having a guard isnt a trend as such.

I was associated with Security Industry in Pakistan for a few months. Just shared a few things about vigilance on road and a bit or two of defensive driving. Laid down those points from top of my head.

Could you pls elaborate how difficult it is to get an arms licence in Pakistan . Have seen some Pakistani videos where people are shooting in weddings with all kind of weapons including AK's and AR series automatic weapons.
How does licence for assault and automatic weapons are given.
In India it's almost impossible to get a licence for any kind of semiautomatic pistol or revolver forget automatic rifles, and to mention here 9mm bore is prohibited for civilians. Even somehow if you get the licence, the price for acquiring any revolver or pistol is sky high. Prices starts from 1500 USD for a substandard govt made revolver/ pistol. Import of any kind of small arms for civilian is ban since 1987. You can only purchase a second hand foreign gun(imported before 1987) and that too in poor condition pricing from 8000$ to 50000$. Usually 12 bore single barrel licences are given with strict control on yearly ammunition quota, and you have to renew your licence in every 3 years with strong valid reason for extension.
These are the two most common and widely possessed small arms by Indian licence holder, and its not easy to get licence for these too.View attachment 327763 View attachment 327764
