Our courts are the biggest hurdle to justice. They should be dismantled and all these judges should be executed along with terrorists.

LHC suspends hanging of five prisoners on death row

Published: December 22, 2014

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench on Monday decided to suspend the
execution of five prisoners convicted of terrorism, Express News reported.

According to Express News correspondent Qaiser Shirazi, the relatives of the five prisoners on death row had said the prisoners had not yet issued an appeal against the decision of their execution.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday declared the death warrants of two convicts illegal, postponing their execution in Sukkar Central Jail. According to death warrants issued by anti-terrorism (ATC) courts, the convicts were supposed to be executed on December 23.

The court also granted permission to transfer both convicts from the Sukkur Central Jail to Karachi Central Jail.

The court said that according to jail rules executions are to be carried out only seven days after the issue of the black warrants.

Families of the convicts had filed an appeal with the Sindh High Court claiming that the death warrants are unlawful since there is already a plea for mercy under hearing in the Supreme Court.

A SHC division bench comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto heard the appeal. The court directed the ATC to issue new warrants.

The moratorium on death penalty in terrorism-related cases was lifted by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after the horrific attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar.

Further, just a day ago, four convicts involved in an attack on former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf were hanged at a district jail in Faisalabad.

Prior to this, two other convicted terrorists - Mohammed Aqeel, a former member of the army’s medical corps, who goes by the alias of Dr Usman and Arshad Mehrban - were hanged at the Faisalabad District Jail.

Aqeel was among the seven people convicted for their role in the attack on Army headquarters in Rawalpindi. Whereas Mehrban had been convicted for his involvement in the attack on former president General Pervez Musharraf.

Pathetic indeed... This is not because of their (dishonorable Justice's) love for justice, but animosity against Gen. Musharraf. We need to impose emergency until operation Zrb-e-Azb is concluded, and as many terrorists are sent to hell as possible otherwise these courts will keep preventing terrorists from meeting their well-deserved fate.

PM directs AG to abolish stay order against death penalties

December 22, 2014 - Updated 1130 PKT
From Web Edition

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday directed Attorney General Salman Aslam Butt and the legal to take steps to vacate stay orders against death penalties issued to terrorists.

The Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) suspended the death sentences of five terrorists who were to be executed at the Kot Lakhpat Jail.

The lawyer for the convicts had filed a case against civilians being sentenced by a military court. The lawyer argued that his clients were not allowed a lawyer or provided court documents.

The LHC suspended the death sentences of Ahsan Azeem, Asif Idrees, Aamir Nadeem, Kamran Aslam and Umar Yousaf. The LHC has also summoned details of all the prisoners.

The prime minister has taken notice of the suspension and according to his spokesman has directed the attorney general to take legal steps for abolishing stay orders against the death penalty and revaluate pending terrorism cases.

The prime minister said no concessions can be provided to those who kill soldiers, citizens and innocent children.

Good move by the PM.

. .
Add the judge who gave this order to the list of people to be executed. Judges and lawyers are heavily infiltrated by extremist leaning tattus. We need to start cleaning up.

.
Obviously none of the lawyers or judges had any kids or relative kids involved in the massacre so its like they are immune to shame.

Islamabad: Cheering crowds have gathered in recent days to support the assassin who riddled the governor of Punjab with 26 bullets and to praise his attack -- carried out in the name of the Prophet Muhammad -- as an act of heroism. To the surprise of many, chief among them have been Pakistan's young lawyers, once seen as a force for democracy.

Their energetic campaign on behalf of the killer has caught the government flat-footed and dismayed friends and supporters of the slain politician, Salman Taseer, an outspoken proponent of liberalism who had challenged the nation's strict blasphemy laws. It has also confused many in the broader public and observers abroad, who expected to see a firm state prosecution of the assassin.

Instead, before his court appearances, the lawyers showered rose petals over the confessed killer, Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri, a member of an elite police group who had been assigned to guard the governor, but who instead turned his gun on him. They have now enthusiastically taken up his defense.
