We keep hearing that India is an old, great civilization, but I don't want to know about stories from the deep dark past, I want to know what does Indian culture mean in the modern world?

Having been to India with my girlfriend and seen first hand how my girlfriend was treated and her having been groped, sexually assaulted, had men surrounding us and taking photos even when we said no or taking sneaky photos of her, do Indians think that is fair? To treat women in such a way is disgusting. Europe, America, Australia all countries have a rape problem but I have never experienced that happening to my girlfriend in these countries.

The caste system is alive and well in India, where human beings are treated worse than animals, where men, women and kids are made to clean sewers with their bare hands, for less than $1 a day. Where kids are begging in the streets for something to eat, 600 million people live on less than $1 a day.

We hear about India's health care but to be honest only the rich get proper health care if they have private cover, I wouldn't be caught dead in an Indian public hospital filthy, and disgusting are the first thoughts that come to mind. And the doctors aren't even interested in helping the poor.

I am sure Indians will come on here and post about India's shiny new buildings and the metros etc, yes there are shiny new building, and metros and roads but that is just in small pockets around the country.

We hear India is a democracy, but yet minorities are killed for eating beef and that too without any proof, where cinemas are burnt down and they go on riots over a fictional story. Were women and kids are afraid to go out at night, where in a hospital ward a 4-year-old is gang-raped by the people who are mean to care for her.

Indians say Australia is a racist country, call Australians convicts, Indians love to dredge up the past, but yet they come to Australia in their thousands, why would Indians go to a racist country? Indians do not know the history of Australia, Australia was built by migrants Italians, Vietnamese, Greeks, Chinese etc we have people from every country calling Australia home.

It is about time we ban Indians from coming into the country and it's good the government is making it harder for Indians to come in now. Even Indians who have lived here for 60 years say that we should make it tougher for Indians to migrate to Australia.
