Basically a reporter asked, Imran Khan using some Muhajir card, as he is now in Karachi.

So he answered who actually is, was: a Pakistani.

Whether we like it or not, ethnicity is a big bitter pill, every Pakistani has to swallow. And past elections, has shown ethnicity is a deciding factor. People vote on ethnicity and ethnic card , is widely used to stir up sentiments and pitch one against the other. Its a sad part of every Pakistani due to decadence in Pakistani politics.

The 'Muhajir Card' was generally a reference to Imran Khan claiming to be half-Muhajir in order to gain sympathy from the Muhajir communities in Karachi. It should be quite obvious that Imran Khan is not a Muhajir, and that means that his statement was merely to make the Muhajir communities feel that Imran was one of their own.

That reminds me, why do we even have a Muhajir concept? 68 years since independence and we still have a group that refer to themselves as Muhajirs? What a pity!

For gods sake the man made a light hearted comment perhaps in jest. This is typical media habbit of nitpicking over his words and quotes and blowing them out of proportion. In his dharna speechs lot of such stuff was done.
But yeah iwould personally not bring in ethnicity. By the way mohajir isnt any ethnicity,and perhaps imran was trying to show another common comnection with those people as we know some of karachites have no job other than screaming 'mohajir mohajir' victim chant.
