For last few months or even last few years, IN and IAF rapidly introducing next generation weapons one after another keeping in mind their future requirements. Its IN and IAF all over in discussions.

IN: Number of nuclear submarines, Scorpenes started to come, Kolkata class is here, Vizag class in launched, Vikrant ready for undocking, New aircrafts, P-8I, navy is very interested in LCA, naval satellites etc etc.

IAF: Got Rfale, LCA is coming in squadron number, FGFA is confirmed and IAF will get them earilier than thought, next gen AAM Astra is getting ready, Akash inducted in numbers. Full net centric warfare capabilities.

IA: What they got in last few years that is something special or they are planning to get? Artilleries are still undergoing trials for years. What is their plan? What is their future take on few weapons that the enemy will not have answer! Nothing I guess.

Parrikar seriously need to look at army generals and corruption in the army.

Modernize the ASC? Feel sorry for those chaps? Can you please elucidate? :what:

You can't tar everyone with the same brush. There will be some black sheep everywhere. Show me an army that doesn't have a few nuts who indulge in such despicable acts of corruption.

Please don't make sweeping statements.

Army will be getting Akash sam, Arjun Mkii, hopefully MCIWS.replacing Insas & I hope quick implementation F-INSAS. Add to that already cleared purchase of 817 Artilerry units which was need of the hour, Uttam AESA being Inducted, Our special forces in great shape. T90s are produced at a good pace, work on Pinaka mkii in progress. Stay postive mate.

Forgot to mention LCH & Apaches are coming in the future as well.

Yes the IA is modernising at a snail's pace when compared to the IN and IAF but there is a reason for this. The IA's CAPEX budget is tiny (as a proportion of its overall budget), being so large the majority of the IA's budget goes on salaries. Really the IA should be cutting down on its manpower and modernising so the overall effect is a more lethal force instead they are STILL growing :hitwall:. This is just backward thinking, something the IA has become known for when compared to its sister services. It is almost always this way- navy and airforces by their very nature are technical and thus have a more forward-thinking mindset, it is going to take a long time for the IA to catch up.

The Indian Navy's CAPEX-OPEX ratio is by far the most favourable of all the three services meaning they can afford to be getting all this new equipment and the IAF receives the largest CAPEX budget year after year, the CAPEX-OPEX ratio of the IA's is utterly pathetic. The situation will improve should the GoI/MoD pass on the fruits of India's more rapid economic growth onto the budget year on year but the best thing the IA could do to make a greater impact on their modernisation would be to cut their manpower by 20-30%, this would then allow them to dramatically modernise themselves and create a force many times more lethal than it is now.

YEs i do know im sharing my observation what I saw in sudan 2009 during un mission and what their officers had shared

We are not talking about Pakistan army here, please.

I am not. I love IA. but I was not talking about few black sheep, but I was talking about over decisions of IA made in last 10 years regarding artillery, SAM, infantry, chopper s etc. These are not far sighted and not the best they could.

IA needs some radical decisions, like concentrate on FMBT, Long range smart artillery, Prahaar etc.

Well analysed bro!!! Got the point. Now in this situation, what could we do, few recommendations?

Bro all these you mentioned for IA is either late or IA still in dilemma and some of them are for IAF like Apache, Uttam AESA.

Like I said bro, the easiest and most logical step would be to cut the IA by 20-30% in terms of manpower whilst leaving the capital assets untouched (i.e. MBTs). The corresponding force this extra capital expenditure this would allow the IA to become would be more than offset by the minimal loss 20-30% of manpower would create. Under programs like F-INSAS(now called something else) the idea is to make the individual soldier more capable and thus more effective. With higher degrees of automation, improved equipment and more situational awareness the individual soldier could easily be 4-5 times more effective than they currently are.

Sadly the IA generals are still trying to grow the force as large as they possible can as they are stuck in a backwards mindset where quantity>quality.

Thats Not the Way The way because It Will Create a mess if they suddenly cut 20 30 % these numbers goes to 300k , 400k
unemployed person , who were trained to fight .
Now They Can take Future precautions like the choose less but better candidates for Forces keep the number in check so it will help in 2 ways more refined Soldiers will be trained and Numbers will go to less automatically and it will save lot of money

If I post about the list of free weapons as aid given by USA, China and KSA, you will run away. For this you have sacrificed your sovereignty. Forgot Abottabad and Killings of your solders by NATO, daily drone attacks?? Still you are takling aid from same country. Shame.

Burraq!! lol Don't open my mouth.

I don't think this is logical solution, the number is perfect and as you know they are increasing the force more by raising new mountain divisions. Large number of money have been given back to finance dept as not spent. These can be used for buying artillery, drones and SAM, Prahaar might be a good start.

Exactly my point, we the begger country, begging one country, copying from another and if we cant copy we steal and paint our flag on it...our sovereignty lost and our soldiers killed by US, daily drone attacks, we lost our morale completely...our economy in ruins, chaos in entire country, our kids being killed....

yet still? shame on your morale, 26/11 culprits running free and the one who was jail we let him free to slap you.
even somalia can take us !!
