The exact reason I haven't rooted my GS3. Despite being very tempted to do so.

by custom rooting, u mean rooting your android phone & then replacing ur stock rom(the one that is by default) by a custom rom(something called cyanogen mod or pac rc1 etc) ???
by rooting u can access all those geeky features that are disabled by manufacturer,& by custom rom u can change the interface of ur phone...

Rooting is like getting a super user access of your phone. But before you root make sure you have understood the potential risks that come along with it. Certain phones like the Samsung have alot of support for rooting and the process is relatively simple however with phones like HTC, its much more harder and chances are that your phone turns blank.
Make sure to backup your original rom before trying this out.

oh baba if you know about iPhone than rooting is the counterpart of jailbreaking in andriod. In simple you give the apps you install on your phone to access system files. it will allow you to install apps for data backup, you can edit host file to get rid of ads , you can overclock your phone, ram management, changing data for games to cheat and unlock etc
