What if Pakistan was not a nuclear power?

India had nukes in 74 and it wasnt untill mid 80 's that we had made one ourself. Why didnt India take advantage of this long period? Despite the nukes people forget that we have one of the largest army and airforce in the world.
India had the nukes but did they had the capacity to deliver those nukes ... Furthermore during that time pak was supported by america ...

than

India Afghanistan
& Iran kab ka humhain takseem kar chukhe hote
india would be a superpower
access to middle east ,central asia ,europe
reason why brits carved it up
Two things come in mind immediately..

1. Pakistan would most likely have become another Iraq, Afganistan etc....in the US never ending "war against terror"

2. India would have long captured Azad Kashmir, possible more Pakistan states.
Please give your views about what would the situation be if India did not have nukes and Pakistan had them.

If we didn't have nukes we would not exist. We would suffer a fate for worst than the Palestinians. We would have ended up like the Jews in Nazi Germany.
If we didn't then india would have attacked us after mumbai 2008. Anyone who listens to or believes anything from the indian media is in need of severe psychiatric help.

Out of all the people On PDF you like our nukes the most. :D .

.
If we didn't had nukes then India would be least of our problems. Look at failed countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria etc to imagine future without nukes.

nope, spikes in tension and the resultant bluster aside, it's the truth.

India as a society are pacifist pragmatists, there are way more takers for the Loc=IB formula here than across the border.

thats why India have territorial disputes with Pak and China.....

Pakistan will be a super power with direct access to all trade routes on all sides or vice versa (India)
brits weren't stupid it is why they carved it up

Guess so. Don't want the fate of our nation to be that of the Palestinians, Red Indians, Iraqis & Afghans. Our nukes ensure this. Much to the dismay and frustrations of our enemies.

I don't think its just nukes . If you remove nukes do you think Pakistan will become as vulnerable as iraq or afghanistan? I don't think so . Afghanistan/Iraq/libya/ did not have 500 + fighter jets , 1 million army , thousands of tanks or sophisticated missile systems . Even without the nukes we would still be one of the most powerful countries in the world .

Look at Iran , its airforce , army and navy is not on par with Pakistan but still is standing tall . You overestimate nuke stuff at times .

.
Look the dispute we have is complex, we are rivals, but seeing India as some kind of devil is not justified, what do you expect from your enemy?? Flowers??sweets??
Proxy wars is how nuclear powers fight, the cold war has many stories.....but our rivalry has reached a new low, Kashmir holds rivers, strategic position, and resources, i dont think India will ever leave Kashmir, nor will Pakistan let go Azad Kashmir or azad Kashmir so easily, but why nuclear war??
Its because Pakistan still wants more of Kashmir and will do anything for it..
Now what India did is not new to the world, we started our war on Pakistan to protect our part of land, since Kashmir has rivers, dont expect us to leave it.....we just want our land to be safe, the process is complex but soon people will realise that Kashmir has nothing to do with their daily lives and was just a case of egoism between two gentlemen named G and J and still we are carrying it on our own shoulders as if it is a matter of death and life.....
Stop blaming people like me for your already difficult lives.....

So our nukes are a blessing for us and curse for India. But I think if india didn't have nukes we would also help separatists in India and break it apart like they would break us apart if we didn't have nukes.

Other than kashmir.
We've nothing against India.

Perhaps, and I agree with you on most of what you said. The other thing that we havn't discussed is that Pakistanis are tough, resilient & intelligent. We have been fighting for our survival since August the 14th 1947. So we are used to hardship and war. Also we are very quick/alert to judge who our enemies are and how to successfully fight them. Arabs, Afghans and other Muslims unfortunately don't share those traits/qualities and are extremely naive. Look at Qaddaffi giving up on Libya's strategic weapons programs to please Tony Blair and Saddam Hussein appealing to the good will of the world community to save him from invasion in 2003. Pakistanis like to get things done efficiently themselves. Other Muslims particularly the Arabs & Afghans are always looking for the West to save them.

India does not harbour territorial ambitions toward Pakistan. Collectively, as a nation, we ceded GB and the area known as 'AK' long before nukes came in the picture. India is ok with the status quo while Pakistan still obsesses over the valley.

don't be too greedy with your slice now.

Lies and bakwas. Indian have monolithically followed a single-item agenda at national level since 1947 and that is to finish off Pakistan. Pakistan is their nemesis, a pain that keeps them ever restless. All their obsession with Pakistan stems out from that pain. And all their Pakistan-centric policies are wetness of their sick mentality. The last Indian aggression against Pakistan was in Siachin just a couple of years before Pak revealed its nuke capability - ironically Zia did that in Rajiv's ear in 1986 for stopping an imminent massive Indian aggression against Pakistan. Had Pakistan not developed nukes in mid-eighties, it would have been only a miracle if Pak would have survived till now. Not certainly after nine-eleven.
