1, China has full right to adopt revenge methods. Not by banning imports from India. But by banning exports to India.
2, From US banning semicondutors exports to China and Japan banning critical chemical products exports to S.Korea cases we can see baning exports hurts more than bannng imports. Banning imports can cause exporters' money loss. Banning exports can paralysis importer country's industries.
3, How badly it could hurt India? Besides finished products, India is importing millions of parts, tons of materials from China. Which involve most Indian industries. Drug industry for example, Drug industry is one of few Indian industries that are competitive in international market. 70% drug materials used by Indian drug companies are imported from China. If China raises export ban, Indian companies can not find substitutions, not in short time, but rather long period. And during the pandemic time, the damages could be even worse.
4, For those industries that India can find substitutions from domestic market or other countries. The costs will remarkably rise because of absence Chinese parts or materials, which are alway best in prices. As a result made-in-India products will be less competitive in world market.

That would actually help us in the long term. I can get behind the idea of China banning exports to India. This is in line with many industrialists recognizing that this time its different and already prepping for such an eventuality. If they dont, they will get hurt, hurting the economy with it. But it will recover for the better. The current trade with deficits + hostile nature of govt. isnt sustainable for us.

1,Take the drug industry as example again. Yes you have trade deficit to China by importing materials. But you will earn more money by selling drugs. Importing parts and materials is overall profitable business.
2, US export ban can not kill China's industries because China has finished industrialization. China has the technologies ability in almost every industry factor. China can even produce domestic lithography machine. Even not as advanced as ASML's. India doesn't have China's technologies ability. You have to start from zero. Which is almost not possible.
3, If China imposes import sanction to India as well, less money will go to India, which will further weaken made-in-India

Internet INdians always claim india to be complacent, lazy, shoddy unless there is a ban or soldiers killed. But strangely thats not how i remember poor indians when i was there - they work brutually hard - deepite that no wealth is created for them or for public. Because the brahmin swallows it and then blames them as lazy and uses it as an excuse to impose bans on them.

It will not help becos Indian is impotent when manufacturing. India can still access western product. They just need to pay 3-4 times more compare to made in China but with similar quality. :enjoy:

In fact, in business, I think we have nothing to fight back.
China rarely has Indian goods, so there is no way to resist
Exports of Chinese goods are prohibited, and India will buy goods from other countries that are more expensive. In addition to more expensive, but can be bought.
I think Chinese goods can enter India, but do not invest in infrastructure construction in India. Will seriously lose money

Indian government is making one retarted decision after another. I am simply stunned by our Leadership's foolishness. Free market economy is the basis of today's geopolitics. China is the largest trader of over 100 countries in the world. They are the cheapest supplier of majority of the parts, tools, Machinery, Software, raw materials and literally whatever you want. We simply cannot go on an economic war with China. We will loose even worse than the one we lost in Galwan. What exactly is Modi thinking?? India is no where in any position to fight any war with China.

Yup, your deficit is really huge. Not healthy anymore.

India will lose more.

How is that actually? You are the one taking the money. Its their money, they can buy wherever they want. Which means you wont get that 50 billion dollar. Which means you lose

How?. India is importing raw material from China and if China stop then India have to buy expensive materials from other sources. It mean that more expensive medicines. Now tell me how it help India?

India industries will be destroyed. China's losing money is not big deal compared to that. US also lost a lot of money in the Sino-US trade war. But Americans still started the trade war. Obviously money is the last thing Americans are concerned.
