I used to think of European Union structure. Keep Kashmir on backburner. Share water equally as per requirement. Develop and then talk after 50 years. Now, I don't believe in it. It has become Zero Sum game.

Where did you find this information? This is not on the table. Stop peddling fake news.

India would gain peace and goodwill of Kashmiris for allowing them to vote for their future, and gain Jammu and Ladakh. Pakistan would gain the Kashmir valley.

Trade and peace would allow both Pakistan and India to advance the economic potential of their countries. It would make India no longer a pariah state for the Muslim world and force India back into alliance with Arabs against Israel.

Most likely Congress or AAP would be voted into power and you would have India becoming a peaceful and progressive nation.

India knows they are in the wrong here, they have to send in a million troops to keep down a small pupulation of Muslims.

If India does the right thing they will gain so much more than a mountain area with villages.
They can negoiate a deal with Paksitan to normalize trade, gain access to central asia, have a better relationship with China, OIC, etc etc.

They will turn a money loosing venture that is Kashmire, into a .... cash cow.....(sorry, could not help myself)

But most importantly, they will lose that dagger that will always be facing their back.
Like it or not, Pakistan has in essence kept India in check. India can easily remove that dagger by simply giving up a mountainous land that does not produce any real value for it.

You're forgetting the blue gold, water. And one thing we learned is, land is precious. We can never give it away, ask the Russians how did selling Alaska go. Public opinion can be swayed in all direction, people don't live forever.

The water only affects a small portion of Indian Punjab. It is not your life line. We can easily make a treaty to share your portion.

Only a hydrologist can understand the affects of that. It is the life line of millions of people in India. Also, we have heavily invested in Kashmir, be it building roads, railways and infrastructure add to the strategic value and access to the second largest glacier in the world Siachen. Above all, we have sacrificed a lot of soldiers in keeping it. There is no simple solution for this issue. We can fight wars, which will pull both of us back to early 2000 economic state. Or we can simply keep this issue alive indefinitely.

I agree that it’s a long shot, but that post was more of what should be done by a responsible state and less about what India will do.

Even there this is applicable.
The Hindus claim the land is theirs since time immemorial. The pandits say so too. The Muslims want to get rid of the above two.

This is a simplistic portrayal of the real situation. But it's closer to the truth.

Like I said, no right or wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I want Shariah to be implemented as much as any other Muslim. But moral superiority is not part of the reasoning for it.

The biggest problem is the removal of the only Muslim majority state will make Hindu fears legitimate. The path towards an institutional Hindu rastra will be paved. Rest of us will either have to migrate or fight.

Problem is this .after getting kashmir, you will celebrate and forget us and be best buddies with India. The army will then take revenge on us knowing you will do nothing.
