What can India expect in return for Kashmir?

It has to be Kashmiris who has to decide. Maybe Pakistan will forgive it's wounds but Kashmiris are the ones suffering everyday and every hour on the ground. When india rapes and murder and torture them, it is no one but Kashmiris who are facing all that.

But if there has to be give and take and Kashmiris accept it then Chenab River Formula is the best. By this formula Pakistan gets all Muslim majority parts of Kashmir, and mostly Hindu parts of Jammu goes to India, while Chenab river defines the new border.

Even that is acceptible to me.

Kirtarpur will be in pakistan . if valley of kashmir is given to pakistan. India can expect friendly relation s with pakistan and land access to central asia iran and russia. Also permant end of hostilities.

But being a kashmiri i know my dad and our relatives will never accept dividing kashmir into 3 parts. They consider all kashmir to be kashmir all the way upto ladakh and aksai chin near tibet.

Having said that . i don't think anyone will listen to kashmiriz.

Wouldn't this be completely unacceptable to India though? You are talking about them giving over 80% of the lands they already have, including Hindu majority parts.

I'm guessing that if negotiations are already happening, there is no way on earth that this would be a basis for discussion.

By the rules of partitions, Muslim majority states goes to Pakistan and Hindu majority to India, or the population decides just as it happened in former NWFP(KPK today), princely states had exceptions to choose. Now Kashmir was a princely state, was Muslim majority and the population wanted to merge with Pakistan, but the ruler was thinking about independence. So out of 3 options 2 were in favor of Pakistan and one was against, for India all 3 options were in against because ruler wanted independence, Population wanted Pakistan and land was Muslim majority, when the population saw that the dogra ruler was taking forever and didn't wanted merger, they rebelled and then there was a fight, fast forward to 48, India kinda blackmailed the ruler to merge the state with india so that India will provide protection against Kashmiris and Pushtun Tribals and so the ruler did. Both ruler and Indian govt promised with Kashmiris that they will get right of self determination and refrendum option but by 80's India started acting as if Kashmir belong to India and started killing their separatist leaders who enjoyed massive public support and were icons. Which then resulted in bloody 90's, in 2000's there were some move because Musharraf and Vajpayee were seen working on a solution which would be "acceptable" to all but then after govt change in Pakistan and India and some false flag in India most likely by Hindutva Rss terrorists who didn't wanted solution, resulted again in both sides turning their backs which again fueled Kashmiri uprising.

So if India is holding something illegally at gunpoint, it doesn't makes that theirs. Stop looking at things through Indian prism. Just today someone posted an article about "most fake news are by india".

Thats not true. Afghanistan is a soverign country. Older than india or pakistan. No one can keep its land . even usa british and soviets failed trying that.

I would say India should ask for at least one of the major other cities. Either Lahore or Karachi.

Basically any intelligent PM of India will solve matters with Pakistan by giving Muslim majority areas of Kashmir to Pakistan and also solving other border disputes by tagging EU type structure between both countries which could add all sub continent into that setup making it most attractive market and major power in world.
