Hi, nice thread. Read this book around 2001-2.
I'm a fan of Mushtaq Ahmed Yousufi. Best mood changer if one is inclined towards reading books on dirty political history and the great World Wars. Colonel Mohammad Khan is a close second and not too far behind Yousufi but in number of books.
Molana Whiskey's book "Aur Line cut gai" enhanced my interest in politics during secondary school holidays, "Maen Nay Dhaka Doobtay Daikha" by Siddique Salik was an early eye opener etc etc .
It always used to intrigue me as to what was the real reason Hitler hated Jews so much. So I read Meinkempf and then holocaust denier David Irving's "Hitler's War", got bored and picked up reading Dresden Apocalypse by the same author and then Desert Fox. Ended up reading all of Irvings books as I was crazy hooked on watching Second World War DVD Documentary Sets. In fact it was one of the documentaries that introduced me to David Irving.
By the way, Al-Raheeq-Al-Makhtum, best book on the life of The Prophet PBUH and concise history of early Islam.
Besides a few Classics, a couple of books by Paolo Coelho is just about as close to reading English fiction as I have ventured. Mostly, I now download books instead of buying em.
Shahid Aziz's self praising, apologetic mediocrity on Kargil and Spy Chronicles and a few excerpts from Reham's filth were the last disappointing books I read these past few months before I already started missing my already well read "Chiragh Talay".
