Low number of screens but this will correct itself with passing timeWhat actually ails Pakistan film industry?
The problem is simple the number of screens in Pakistan are too few and concentrated in 4 cities only for the industry to grow number of multiplexes need to grow as for your claim that US student projects earn more well they have a bigger economy.Crappy shit movies that are not even made representing our culture/values. Hence, literally nobody gives a sh*t about these movies or the "stars" in em (except a very tiny minority of burger type kids like @Zibago etc )
WAAR was a good start. It was a decent movie and looked like a Pakistani movie. The dialogues, plot, characters, dressing, music....it seemed like seeing Pakistan on the screen.
And then movies started coming with girls wearing shorts and dancing in bars So Pakistani, right? Since last few years, Pakistani industry has stalled around $5-7 million revenue AT MAX. This is literally laughable in a country of 220 million people. US students earn more revenue for their homemade projects.
Pakistanis, like anyone else in the world, prefer watching original content. So Hollywood and even Bollywood is preferred. Pakistani dramas are original and it looks like watching Pakistan on screen. Hence Pakistani dramas dwarf star plus or other countries' dramas in consumption.
They are making films people like and even non eid releases are going around the 10-12 crore sweet spotAs far as I can see, it's getting back on it's feet.
It won't be overnight, but slowly they are producing better and better movies.

What movies make in Pakistan is more or less enough to sustain themselves I mean 40-50 crore on eid releases aint so bad

1) The number of screens are growing but not at the same pace after bollywood ban and new taxes (its still growing though)
And why do you think the number of screens haven't exploded in Pakistan? Yup....lack of demand since nobody gives tiny sh*t about low-quality Bollywood copies.
How about Pakistan films performance abroad? There is no issue of screens and Pakistani community abroad is wealthy as well----so obvious Pakistani movies will kick *** abroad (like Pakistani dramas do), right?
Oh yeah, same thing. LITERALLY NOBODY GIVES A SH*T People just don't go to waste their dollar, Pounds, or Dinar to see a low quality, under-budget, wanna be copy of some bollywood movies with Pakistani actresses wearing shorts 'representing' a 'Lahori girl' (I saw that happening in one movie and was literally laughing as how bad character development was). Imagine Hollywood making a character " average American LA Girl" and showing it wearing hijab and abstaining from alcohol. Guess what? people would only laugh at such bad character development on screen. Same goes the opposite way as well.
I know you don't know this, but film industries of congo (yes, fucking CONGO!!) are more profitable with higher audience than Lollywood. Congo's per capita income is $800 in purchasing power. Pakistan's per capita income is around $6000 on PPP (almost 8x more!)....yet our industry is ranked lower than Congo's.
But I'm sure its all due to 'screens' and not bad product.
Following the path of Bollywood .
thats ironic coming from youLack of originality, creativity, technicality in producing films.
Oh. And you are the one to comment.thats ironic coming from you
This TBH.Trying very hard to copy Bollywood.
Agreed 100%Making crappy copies of bollywood. nearly every movie has the same loser comedy, or rom-com formula. no one wants to see the same sh*t again and again. nothing that contains a message, nothing that addresses the issues of Pakistan. all they have is item songs and crappy romantic story lines.
And why not. Bollywood is the biggest in all features you mentioned. how ever they are at least its script or song are not copied.Oh. And you are the one to comment.
