I am sure there might be several changes we can do to make it much better.

. . .
Helicopter has its own advantages it can hover , can land with out runway , can maintain stability . Fixed Wing A/C cannot replace the heli's role . However you can supplement attack force by those aircrafts .

. . .
Some type of light plane perhaps like super TUCANO, good in counter insergensy

here,
look up Burt Rutan and his projects ( scaled composites ).

2 of his designs closely reselble what you posted and they actually went till protype phase.

While an Apache has twin engines of about 1700 shaft horse power each.. Osprey has two engines of 6000 shaft horse power each..
You dont need a PHD in avionics to figure out which one is the more viable option for counter insurgency/ground attack.

Osprey is reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyy expensive , problematic when it comes to maintenance and unnecessary.Armed UAVs would be your answer but when we think about their payload capacity perhaps light atack helis are best when it comes to anti-insurgency.

Theres also more cheap way againts insurgency as "locate with Unarmed UVA and strike with mobile artillery/guided rockets" , check this video out.
