India continued to torment Pakistan in the Hero Hockey World League Semifinals, hammering the arch-rivals 6-1 in a 5th-8th place classification match, in London on Saturday.

Ramandeep Singh (8th, 28th) and Akashdeep Singh (12th and 27th) struck a brace each while Harmanpreet (36th) sounded the board in the third quarter in India's comprehensive victory in
the match.

Pakistan pulled one back through Ajaz Ahmad (41st) in the third quarter while Mandeep Singh (59th) completed the tally for India in the dying moments of the match.

The win is India's second in a row over Pakistan in the tournament after a 7-1 result in their first match. The Indians will take on Canada in the 5th-6th place match on Sunday.

The first quarter belonged to India with play mostly restricted to the Pakistan half. Ramandeep put India ahead in the eighth minute when his reverse flick beat the Pakistan
custodian.

Akashdeep had a chance to double the lead four minutes later but it went abegging. He received a pass from Ramandeep, ran into the circle alone and had only the goalkeeper to beat
but could not control the ball and ended up missing the goal.

Talwinder though did not make the mistake in giving India their second goal as he deflected a rasping cross from Pardeep Mor from the right.

India took the game away from the arch-rivals in the second quarter with three strikes that handed India a 4-0 cushion at half time.

Pakistan had hardly come to terms with the onslaught when Akashdeep (27th) struck from the left flank as he lobbed the ball past the goalkeeper and the ball hit the bar before
crossing the line.

Leaving the Pakistani team in complete disarray, Ramandeep struck for a second time. SV Sunil sent a pass into the 'D' and a fully stretched Ramandeep just had to connect to
send the ball into the goal.

Harmanpreet converted a short corner to make it 5-0. Ahmad reduced the deficit, taking full advantage of a rare defensive slip by the Indians.

Hockey is only limited to gojrah, there is almost no hockey in Pakistan, am surprise that we still have a hockey team.

Good going..Recently failed in cricket, sad but there is also a reason to smile given by these players..
India recently has also won Badminton championship in Indonesia & medal in world bodybuilding too..

Indian cricket team is superior to Pakistan cricket team...that day was a anomaly. Luck also played hugely in Pakistan's win. It was a win for Pakistan that they didn't expected.

PHF has lots of problems; funding and management being the biggest.
I remember watching Sohail Abbas and the team play in the Asian Championship in Qatar in 2012 but I guess our team has seen austerity since that.

Those boys in hockey playing region of Pakistan can play hockey all day long. They need to be provided with enough hockey turfs to become world class players. They play on grass and uneven grounds due to which they don't reach the highest levels. Boys there find immense joy in this game which makes them natural candidates for international careers in this sport.

"Wasn't expected"!Luck played a roll at an extent but they reached to final & won..So all can't be coincidence..They played damm good. That also doesn't mean Indian team isn't world class they are also good.Credit definitely goes to Pakistani players as they were deprived from proper funds & no major tournament in home for long time still they kept winning mindset..

Yes, they played well...they were 8th in ranking...no international team has played in Pakistan in last 10 years...they are short of funds...and it is appreciable they won the title. However, I am comparing the Indian team to Pakistan team...IMO India is better team than Pakistan...

Yes better overall I agree to that except that day..

its sad to see you bash your national sports to dirt like that
Where the hell bashing comes from, unfortunately this is truth, a nursery like Karachi and high used to produce half the hockey team is not contributing at all. Thanks to mqm they have screwed everything.

There was a time when Pakistan hockey team was like goal machine, I can't forget there penalty specialist Sohail, unfortunately Pakistan hockey team is suffering same fate as there cricket one. I wish theyou bounce back, kya Hai na weak team me against score karke kya milega
