West’s partiality worsens religious divides in Myanmar
By Liu Lulu Source:Global Times Published: 2017/9/3

Hundreds of people died as the conflicts between Myanmar security forces and Rohingya militias escalated into the bloodiest fighting in Rakhine state. Western public opinion immediately pointed fingers at the Myanmese government, accusing it of using of "excessive force" and arguing that the country's de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, should take responsibility for the "humanitarian disaster." This is unfair to Myanmar's government. Western accusations will not help to alleviate tensions, but only add fuel to the fire and boost the morale of terrorists.

Ethnic and religious conflicts between the minority Muslim Rohingya and the majority Buddhist population have been simmering for a long time. Suu Kyi reiterated that the government is trying to close up the divides among different sides, welcomes any returning Rohingya with open arms, and has already taken concrete measures to help them obtain citizenship in Myanmar.

However, some extremists resorted to violence against the government instead. Their terrorist attacks failed to address the crisis, but only resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians. Earlier, Malaysia's counter-terrorism chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay warned that Myanmar faces a growing danger of terrorist attacks by the Islamic State (IS), after the detention of a suspected IS follower over an alleged plot to "perform a jihad attack in Myanmar." Some foreign IS supporters are reported to have been involved in the Rakhine violence, providing arms support for Rohingya extremists. In the meantime, even so-called international aid groups are showing their support for the Rohingya to establish an independent state in Myanmar.

Last week, Suu Kyi's office issued a statement accusing international aid staff of assisting terrorists. The international aid workers had "participated while extreme terrorists besieged" a village in Rakhine state, as UN world food program biscuits were found "at the camp where terrorists sheltered," according to the statement. This undoubtedly stoked up discontent by some hard-line Buddhist extremists, further embroiling the already-tense situation.

Western public opinion's overwhelming support for the Rohingya group appears to be of humanitarian concern, but, in essence, is bolstering terrorist activities. It has disrupted and thwarted the Myanmese government's efforts to stabilize the situation in Rakhine. Deterring terrorists from taking root in the country is of vital importance for Myanmar's government at present.

The Chinese public is quite concerned about the situation in Myanmar. China sincerely hopes for a peaceful and stable Myanmar, and does not shy away from its interests in Rakhine. As the starting point of the Sino-Myanmese oil and gas pipeline, Rakhine is of vital importance for Nay Pyi Taw's resource security and economic development, and meanwhile has far-reaching effects on China's Belt and Road initiative and its other cooperative projects with Myanmar.

So, what it supposed to mean? Mayanmar can mass kill and rape rohingyas and get away with it?

Well, anyone can be an anti Muslim. But, supporting mass killing and rape is the red line of sickness...
this is exactly what the OP is doing

he is justifying the killings of Ronhingyas

Myanmar exerts extreme violence on many of its minority groups, including Ronhingyas, Kokang, Wa, and many more. In fact more than 20,000 have fled to China last year, many of whom are Chinese Han ethnic who's ancestors moved there during the Ming dynasty and some parts like Kokang used to be sovereign Chinese territory during the Ming dynasty. It is violent I think due to inheriting a country that is fragmented and combating separatist forces but that doesn't excuse them from violence. But I don't think any country will do much about the situation in Myanmar as shown by historic precedent. Myanmar is in the necessary process of consolidating and centralising power within its borders and its going to be and had been very bloody. I don't think this internal conflict will stop until they either learn to live with each other through some arrangement or one group gets eliminated/pushed out.

The west is perhaps trying to divide opinions and support on Myanmar but we are seriously overplaying its effect. Whether its fair or unfair to accuse the Myanmar government of atrocities is irreverent when predicting the future, in the end they will likely survive and continue consolidating power. Any separatist forces will likely stay local within their own regions and not fight a mass guerrilla war around the country or in the economic heart of the country thus giving the timing and mobility advantage to the Myanmar government.

I am realistic and historical minded. As an IR scholar, I cannot ignore recent history. Being historical-dialectic, I have to ask why question before being arrested by superficial outcome questions such as when, where, how.

It is crystal clear to many scholars in China that the West is promoting religious extremist separatism in Myanmar in the same vein they tried in Syria. To this end they may sound symphatetic and caring toward certain religious or ethnic minority groups-whom they kill in scores in other places.

It is all politics.

They try to rally and form an anti-Myanmar global public opinion. They resort to extreme media agitation and false/misleading reporting -like the registered fake news CNN does above.

Myanmar, however, is no Libya, and East Asia is no Middle East. There is China, the anchor of peace and stability.

No matter how extreme feelings one may have against Myanmar, China sides with and protects the legitimate government of Myanmar in its fight against foreign-backed religious separatist terrorism.

Over 26,000 civilians displaced by violence in Myanmar's northern state: gov't

Source:Xinhua Published: 2017/9/6

A total of 26,747 ethnic people have been evacuated to safe places in Myanmar's northern Rakhine state due to terrorist attacks since Aug. 25, the government's Information Committee said on Wednesday.

From Aug, 25 to Sept. 5, 97 terrorist attacks launched by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) extremist terrorists killed 36 people, including 13 security force members, two government service personnel and 21 ethnic people, and injured 22 others.

A total of 59 villages and 6,842 houses were burnt down by the extremist terrorists with eight bridges being destroyed by planted mines.

At least 371 terrorist bodies were found.

The security forces were evacuating more civilians and providing medical care and treatment to them, the Information Committee said.

Meanwhile, Myanmar authorities called for cooperation with the government in its efforts to maintain peace and stability across the country.

LOL, A falseflagger with NK flag, nice try!
Personally, I don't trust media 'one-sided' view that Rohingya was truly innocent victim, nothing has to do with Rohingya believe or their faith. If there's armed gangs 'hiding' behind Rohingya identity, someone still has to deal with them, especially radicals.

When I said Chinese government along with Indian government will support Myanmar, Chinese started selling themselves to Muslims and barked against Myanmar.

Good to see some level head from mainland China.

I did not notice any anti-Myanmar sentiment in China's academic circles that I know. But opinions may differ. What matters is the position of the government, which, first and foremost, anti-extremist and anti-separatist, defending Myanmar's territorial integrity.
