Western state terrorism loses crucial battle in Gaza

By Finian Cunningham

It was a David and Goliath battle in which the Zionist Goliath was forced to retreat with a bloody nose and a severely dented ego.

The biblical reference is rather apt since the Zionist regime launched its onslaught - Pillar of Cloud - on the people of Gaza with presumptuous divine right only to find that their God was not on their side. While the casualties and toll of human suffering are as usual disproportionately inflicted on the Palestinian men, women and children, nevertheless the victors in this latest battle are the people of Gaza and the many people around the world who stood with them.

For all its awesome weaponry from land, sea and air, the American-backed Zionist regime did not get the walk-over result it was arrogantly, psychotically expecting. A combination of Palestinian heroism and Iranian-supplied firepower forced Netanyahu and his mad dogs in Tel Aviv to back down. The rain of rockets striking Israeli held territory - showing the Iron Dome defense system to be more like Paper Dome - no doubt confounded the aggressors.

But another crucial blow was the world-wide furor and condemnation that the Zionist war criminals elicited by their aggression on the 1.7 million population of Gaza. The Western mainstream media could not conceal the horrific scenes of carnage against innocent civilians. With the shrapnel-torn bodies of children piling up in hospitals and morgues, no amount of sanitizing misinformation and fake balance could mitigate the reality of appalling criminality in the eyes of the world.

International public opinion was outraged by the Israeli attempts to pulverize the besieged people of Gaza. People from every corner of the world were mobilized to defend Gaza. The Israeli regime lost the propaganda battle. Nowhere was this defeat more important than in Europe and the United States where the governments are the lifeline sponsors of the rogue regime in Tel Aviv. The massive rallying of Western public condemning Israeli violence must have alarmed these same governments.

The past week has seen a historic turnaround in international public opinion. World perception and understanding has been changed forever. The evil charade of the past six decades in which Tel Aviv has killed and dispossessed with impunity under the guise of self-defense is now exposed for what it truly is - regime terrorism and genocide.

Truth has prevailed and what the people of the world are seeing - at last - is not some self-styled democratic entity acting in alleged self defense, but rather a regime that is lawless and genocidal.

The precipitating factor here is probably Washington - the ultimate power behind the Israeli war machine. Not for any virtuous reason, but out of a desperate self-serving cynicism.

The USD three-billion-a-year bankrolling, the relentless diplomatic and media protection and the arsenal of mass destruction including nuclear warheads, the latest in fighter jet technology, surveillance equipment and the Iron Dome anti-missile system that emboldened the latest Israeli aggression (but in practice did not work) - all American (and Western) weapons - have propped up the Israeli regime for more than six decades in violation of international law and basic human morality.

Yet this monstrous veil of crimes against humanity has been torn away in the eyes of the world, revealing the abomination that is the Zionist regime. More importantly, the authors of this heinous regime in the capitals of Washington, London, Paris, Berlin and elsewhere are also finally exposed.

Their lies and apologetics in the face of rampant criminality - invoking nauseating claims of Israel’s right to self-defense - have now demonstrated their base, vile amorality. People around the world, and in particular the citizens of the US and Europe, have begun to understand the connections between their governments and the historic and ongoing Israeli lawlessness and aggression.

Moreover, the Western public under the heel of economic oppression and increasingly dictatorial rule are now seeing the consistent link between their governing regimes and imperialism - the latter most succinctly evident in the criminal machinations of Tel Aviv.

Netanyahu and his gang of terrorists in Tel Aviv are too intoxicated on arrogance and their own propaganda to realize that their barbarity stands exposed as naked genocidal aggression. But their commander-in-chief in Washington could read the memo from world opinion. Washington and its Western allies have been nailed in their systematic collusion with Israeli state terrorism. People understand now that Israeli regime terrorism is an integral part of Western state terrorism, both at home and abroad.

To be sure, Washington didn’t foresee the problem of truth breaking out when it undoubtedly gave Tel Aviv the green light weeks ago to embark on yet another round of genocide against Gaza as it had done four years ago during Operation Cast Lead.

But the American sponsors of Israeli terrorism could see how the latest onslaught was turning out very, very badly. It was not out of concern for lives in Gaza, but rather concern to avert the world’s eyes from the spectacle of American-backed Israeli terrorism and the truth about the vile nature of Western governments that prompted the urgent dispatch of US secretary of state Hillary Clinton to the Middle East.

Clinton was on a “farewell tour” of Asia with President Obama when she was hurriedly sent to Tel Aviv and Cairo to push through a so-called ceasefire.

Washington realized that not only was its favored terrorist regime shooting itself in the foot, it was shooting the American government’s as well. Not only the American government, but all those other collaborators in European capitals as well.

Through their immense suffering and courage, the people of Gaza have won an historic battle that the rest of the world can share in - the battle for truth about Palestinian injustice, Israeli aggression and the despicable nature of Western governments. Washington may think that it has averted the damage by hastily restraining its terrorist Goliath in Tel Aviv. But the damage of this truth is irreparable.

A crucial battle has been won - for now. But the greater war against Western state terrorism is only just heating up. And, thanks to the power of truth and international solidarity among the world’s people of good will, victory beckons.

Ignorance can only get you so far. Israel didn't negotiate with Hamas, Israel negotiated with Egypt.

Israel will now think twice before attacking Iran: Hamas official

Senior Hamas official Mahmoud al-Zahar says the Israeli regime will now "think twice" before launching an attack on Iran following its failure in the Gaza war.

"The Jews will think twice before" attacking Iran, al-Zahar said on Saturday.

The resistance movements in the tiny blockaded enclave managed, for the first time in two decades, to target Tel Aviv with rockets and missiles they had produced using, according to the Commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Iranian technology.

According to US Center for Military Studies, Fajr-5, newly developed by resistance fighters in the Gaza Strip using Iranian know-how, has a range of up to 75 kilometers, weighs 915 kilograms and has a 90-kilogram warhead. It was one of the rockets that penetrated Israel’s Iron Dome missile interceptor and landed in Tel Aviv.

Iran has made great advances in the missile technology over the past years. According to the Commander of the Aerospace Division of IRGC Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Iran's Sejjil (Baked Clay) and Shahab missiles are among the missiles capable of targeting objects within a range of 2,000 kilometers.

During Great Prophet 6 military drills in June 2011, the Iranian commander said although Iran is equipped with the technology to produce longer range missiles, it does not intend to do so as Israeli targets are within the reach of its missiles. A distance of 1,200 km, according to Hajizadeh, separates Iran from Israel.

Israel has at times threatened to attack Iran's nuclear facilities based on the unsubstantiated allegation that Iran's nuclear energy program has been diverted towards the production an atomic bomb, a claim Iran has rejected.

Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said in October that Iran's arsenal of ballistic missiles is powerful enough to repel any threats. Last November, he said Israel would not have a minimal chance of survival if it ventured to attack Iran.
