you're comparing Palos Verdes, one of the richest and most exclusive suburbs in LA if not the entire US, to major cities in China which are accessible to anyone that can buy a bus ticket (even the poorest of the poor)? Big cities in China are not that good but perhaps, to compare to LA area cities, maybe some parts are as good as Irvine or El Segundo only.So uh "what China" is the media supposedly showing?
Let me get this straight..some guy from the UK is in China and is talking about the US listening in on calls? Well glad to see he is pushing for the need to use a Netherland's VPN and says everything is fine in China.
Meanwhile he is completely clueless about the US and posts stuff like this as "Living in America"..which is likely what biased Chinese media has been feeding him.
Living in China vs Living in America
The percent of the US population that lives in cities with more than 1 million people has now declined to less than 6%. That means 94% don't live in major cities. They live in the "developed" areas outside of major cities built after WW2. I'm quite sure the vast majority of the people in China are clueless about this fact due to lying Chinese media.
This is more along the lines of what living in the US is like..not some urban street in some old city.
You think Chinese media would ever show this???
No, they just highlight old cities built over 100 years ago and all the infrastructure in them that needs updating...and also the people who can't afford to move out to the newer areas.
Our new suburbs are basically like China's new cities.
Meanwhile even the Chinese here claiming to be "in the know" keep pushing the narrative that life in the US is about living in some 150 year old city apartment building compared to some new one built 10 years ago in China.
you're comparing Palos Verdes, one of the richest and most exclusive suburbs in LA if not the entire US, to major cities in China which are accessible to anyone that can buy a bus ticket (even the poorest of the poor)? That's a major overestimation of Chinese cities. Big cities in China are not that good but perhaps, to compare to LA area cities, maybe as good as Irvine or El Segundo only.
its kinda odd how you literally base your entire identity around living in the suburbs. like what if you move? most people tend to base their identity around their ethnicity and or profession, because those are things that are relatively permanent. Where you live? It's just a building.
So I looked it up and it's ranked 115th on Forbes...but that just shows there are far better places.

But hold on a minute...I thought you once said if the suburbs are so great and desirable why are all the rents so high in the cities. Now you are saying this LA suburb is actually one of the most exclusive places in the country.
But anyways I just grabbed a FSD video off of youtube. I can grab others.
How is this any different than those who are basing their identity on living in a major city in China that has been rebuilt in the last 25 or so years..and how they are now living in a new "modern" China and don't want to talk about life in the "older" less developed parts of China where a high proportion of the people live.
I'm living in a home built in 2005 in the suburbs...not a house built in the 1880's in the city. The new stuff is outside the cities...not in them.
Actually, Chinese image of American is very close to what you have portraited here, as there are many popular American shows that are broadcasted on CCTV, not to mention all the American movies.
I don't think you get the message LMAO. The message is that having a major part of your population live in an environment like that is shameful and it is double shameful for a major part of economic output to look like that.No it isn't. I have had to convince numerous people on here that the vast majority of Amercans don't live in high-rises buildings in US cities. Only a few US cities have a significant number of high rise residential buildings.
Then showing a streetview of NYC like this even blows people's minds.
