Oh hell welcome our swearing new information minister Firdous Ashiq Awan.
ISLAMABAD, Feb 11 (APP): Senior PPP leader Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan was given portfolio of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Friday. Earlier she took oath to join 22-member new cabinet of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani. In the previous cabinet she served as Minister for Women Development. Firdous Ashiq Awan returned on Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) ticket from a constituency of Sialkot in 2008 by securing 78,925 votes, defeating her opponents Ch.Amir Hussain (PML) and Adrees Bajwa (PML-N).
First time she was elected to a reserved seat for women in 2002 on a Pakistan Muslim League (Q) ticket and was appointed as parliamentary secretary. However,in 2007 she resigned from the post and joined the PPP.
