JAIPUR: Home minister Gulab Chand Kataria on Wednesday said lakhs of Bangladeshi nationals were illegally residing in Rajasthan and many of them possessed fake domicile documents of Indian states.

Kataria said some illegal immigrants' involvement was found in criminal cases, including in the notorious robbery and gang-rape case of Vaishali Nagar. The Bangladeshis identified in Jaipur had Indian voting cards, rations cards, driving licences and Aadhar cards procured through fake documents.

The home minister, while responding to an attention motion moved on the subject, said the police action against the illegal settlers remained inadequate. Kataria attributed it to the difficulty in identifying the Bangladeshis because of their fake documents.

"We will run a campaign for a fortnight to identify and deport the illegally residing Bangladeshis. The campaign dates will not be disclosed," Kataria assured the House, which unanimously demanded action against illegal settlers.

The minister informed the House that a special task force of the police already existed in each district to identify and deport Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals staying illegally in Rajasthan.

BJP's Mohanlal Gupta and Congress's Pradhyumn Singh asked the government to ensure that artisans from West Bengal were not harassed, mistaking them to be Bangladeshis because of their linguistic similarities.

Tarun Rai Kaga from Chohtan (Barmer) and Shaitan Singh from Pokhran (Jaisalmer) pointed out that unlike the Bangladeshis, the Pakistanis migrated to Rajasthan since they faced religious and social tortures in their country. "The government should have sympathetic approach for them," Kaga said. Kataria assured humanitarian approach in such cases.

The home minister stressed on tightening the laws with the Centre's assistance and on fencing the India-Bangladesh border, while BJP MLA and former minister Narpat Singh Rajvi demanded a separate illegal immigration Act to address the problem. BJP MLA from Jaipur Surendra Pareek, who raised the issue, demanded that the Bangladeshis be not rehabilitated.

Kataria blamed politicians for helping the illegal migrants to settle here. "A Bangladeshi colony was officially settled in Jaipur (Bagrana and Baksawala under the Gehlot government). For votes, we politicians help them get the passport verifications done," he said.

BJP's Alka Singh and Rajvi demanded action against persons, including the politicians, who helped illegal immigrants to settle in the state.

BJP MLA from Luni, Jogaram Patel, told the House that there were pockets of illegal settlers in Jodhpur division, especially Jaisalmer and Barmer districts, where the police dared not to enter. "These are hideouts where thousands of illegal immigrants reside and possess firearms that we cannot even imagine of. They are involved in anti-national activities," Patel claimed. The home minister asked him to share the details with the government so that necessary action could be taken.

Samething should do in the South Indian states.Kick allof them out from here.

Last time I went to Kerala by train, I saw Kerala express full of Bangladeshis. I was wondering what they are doing there. One fellow told me that they have captured local labour market as the daily wages here is almost 3 times the rest of India.
