Water Works Project at Textile City inaugurated


KARACHI (May 05 2010): The ground-breaking ceremony of construction of Water Works (Package-III) was held on April 08, 2010 at Textile City site, Port Qasim. Zaheer A. Hussain, CEO Pakistan Textile City, Colonel Syed Asif Jamal (Retd), GM Technical Operations and Aun All Sayani, CFO & Company Secretary of Pakistan Textile City, Engr. Mohammad Najeeb Haroon, CEO Principal Builders, and members of Nespak team led by Muhammad Shoaib, Project Manager were present on the occasion.

The project's projected completion time is 12 months while its cost is Rs 678 million. The project has been awarded to renowned contractors M/s Principal Builders under Nespak's supervision. A 23 km 48 inch diameter water supply pipeline for 20 MGD is in the process of being laid by KW&SB from Forebay High Point to Textile City site.

The Water Works project covers a 20 million-gallon (MG) water reservoir, 1.5 MG potable water underground tank, an overhead tank of 125,000 gallons and underground water tank for fire-fighting system. After completion, potable water will be treated through chlorination process and passed through sand filter beds to ensure the supply of good quality drinking water.-PR

wow, nice, finally. i hope more projects like these start to get us the basic neccessities in life. which cities (or city) will get dinking water from this anyway?
